Personally, I've had the 3D effect off since about the 3rd day of owning it. My wife also pretty much keeps the 3D off as well.

However, it's still a great handheld. The front-end is absolutely amazing and I'm actually very surprised by it. I love how it suspends a program and it is basically a refined and superior version of the front-end that the Wii is using. Anyways, I knew the whole 3D excitement wouldn't last very long with me, but I am enjoying the games. It's weird but I have been strangely addicted to Samurai Warriors which is obviously not a system seller. It's a surprisingly complete and finished game. I am so glad they kept the voice acting (which is superb) and all the nice cutscenes, it just feels really great.

Some of my other favorites have been Pilotwings, Steel Diver, and Ridge Racer. I have not been playing Super Street Fighter as much as I thought I would. My wife is currently addicted to Bust-A-Move Universe and Super Monkey Ball.

For the near future, I am excited for Dream Trigger, DOA, and Resident Evil Mercenaries. :)

I can see the duel imagery when looked slightly from either side, a center view at a comfortable play distance gives the best view. I think because of the small screen size, a limitation of 3D popping out as in a 3D movie. The effect reminded me of 3D postcards, but in the 3DS screen, it does a pretty good job hiding the prisms and smoothes out the 3D transition pretty well. A nice system, little pricey but not bad of a 3d effect for a portable. I still prefer the small GBA SP, simply because it can fit in the front pocket.
That's because 3D when it applies to games is based on the Z-buffer. So it won't (and never will) pop out of you. Z-buffer concerns the depth of an image. Think of 3D gaming as 2D+ depth. To give the illusion of something popping out at you you need to combine it with 3D head tracking which isn't really possible on the 3DS.

Most of the 3D I have seen on the 3DS has been depth related, meaning it looks like it goes down into the screen, as opposed to popping out of the screen towards me. However, I remember one time when something was popping out at me.

The Samus AR card. One of her poses has her shooting out a laser from her arm cannon. If you position it just right so the laser is shooting you, it will look like it is popping out of the screen. I was very impressed by it. It's nice to know that the 3D effect can go in both directions.

You're still talking about tracking. Rather than tracking your head, you're moving the device around. This is what gives the illusion that's it's coming out of the screen.

Now imagine playing Resident Evil and you actually have to look around the corner, only to see a zombie jumping towards you! For real!... Shoot him with the remote, duck, roll to your left (for real) and then shoot him in the side!... That would be sweet...

Now go even further, and imagine all this in Full HD splendour!... Seeing the girl from the Ring (Ringu) crawl out of your screen... ( -_-;)
Wow. That's amazing. Nintendo could totally do this with the Wii now. I wonder why they don't. >_>

Always found this to be very impressive. Especially considering this is on a 2D screen.

Yup, precisely what I'm talking about.

I see dumb people... they're everywhere.
They walk around like everyone else.
They don't even know that they're dumb.

Oh dear. Judging on the average IQ of that forum I think I'd rather stick forks in my eyes than read past the first page.

Personally, I don't think the upscaling is that bad on the 3DS. It's not unplayable by any stretch of the imagination. I was playing Ghost Trick last night and I thought it looked perfectly acceptable. The animation was sharp, edges of objects were sharp. There was next to know blurriness. Compare that to Spirit Tracks or Dragon Quest IX, they look definitely worse. It just depends on the game.
Agreed. It's no where near unplayable, but it's like asking yourself "would you rather play a game in Composite, or Component?"
Although I do prefer playing some DS games on the 3DS due to the Circle pad. (Works great with M64DS and Animal Crossing! :) )
