You can't crouch and strafe at the same time. Altough I guess it's not used much in Quake XD

Thats not that uncommon. Alot of Quake players still use the right click move setup. The first people I heard of using it were Descent players who could not afford a stick or yoke.
I basically came up with it when I was playing Quake 2 at a LAN and realized that just using the arrow keys wouldn't cut it if I wanted to stay competitive. I'd need to use the mouse to look around and I built a control scheme from scratch based on that.

S and G are strafe
D and F are move back (just F if I can't map two keys to one action)
Mouse 1 fire
Mouse 2 move forward
Space jump
W crouch
E use
R reload
T secondary fire
Y, H, A, Q, B, Z are my most commonly used extra function keys, in order of their use.
Damn, and I thought the guy I met that had S switch to his rocket was weird.

You can, tip of the finger on W, ball of it on S. I rarely find myself needing to crouch and strafe for long periods of time, and certainly never under high stress situations.

Haha, that look so unconfortable =P

In TF2 when you rocketjump you can vary your height by crouching and airstrafing is important so as to not get airshotted so that's why I noticed =P

How do you play GTFO? I would think you would want back right there with the rest of your movement keys

Perhaps GTFV would work instead?

I rarely rocketjump as a soldier in TF2. It's not one of the classes I regularly play.

Neither do I, but, I do know that I hate that stupid black box. It makes some people nearly invincible.

I personally like the scout, pyro, and spy. Though I'll play sniper with the hunstman or demoman every once in a while.

Anyway, I really can't see how anybody could use anything but the WASD configuration. That's just me though.

Dual analog sticks for me. I hate keyboard and mouse for most video games.
