hello there,
joystiq.com is usually my #1 sources of videogames news.
They did an overhaul for the website, and for some reason their news is starting to look
slow or boring. I keep visiting there day after day but its usually just, nothing.
I am switching to kotaku, but I wonder is it just me or is news quality decreasing at joystiq?
Do you follw joystiq.com ?
Re: Do you follw joystiq.com ?
i read destructoid but that's just me. joystiq has been real copypasta lately, and i really dislike kotaku for some reason.
gaygamer.com is actually pretty cool, believe it or not.

Why ya hating on Kotaku? Although their site seems to run really slowly, probably because of the mountains of ads on there.

I only ever go to joystiq.com when linked to it from here or somewhere else. It doesn't load very quickly for me is why, and I read kotaku.com on a similarly rare basis. I use gamespot.com for my gaming news, for better or worse. Always have since 2006.

yeah I generally forget to look at joystiq these days. I used to read it often a couple years back. I'd say I check 1up and IGN more often nowadays.
Re: Do you follw joystiq.com ?
I find sites like Destructoid and Kotaku to be the real bottom of the barrel. They post so much crap and things that aren't gaming news that they're unbearable. Not to mention the quality of writing hovers somewhere around the third grade level. The amount of ads on Kotaku makes it unbearable to load too, if I ever get linked there.
I have Joystiq in my RSS simply because they're fairly quick at reporting the news, stay on topic, and the writing is generally the best of a bad lot.
I don't find much different about Joystiq these days, but I rarely visit any news sites anymore. All the sites I care about publish full posts to their RSS feeds, and that's really the only way I can keep up with everything I want to keep up with in a short period of time. If a site has no RSS feed, I likely won't be back.

Oh yes @aaron, it's http://www.gaygamer.net, not .com.
Racketboy really needs a "+' quote system to quote multiple posts.

The only mainstream gaming feed I follow is the one at Ars Technica.

I'm with you 100% on Kotaku ("THIS GUY WAS ALMOST IN A CAR WRECK BUT SWERVED OUT OF THE WAY AND LIVED AND HE SAID HE PLAYED VIDEO GAMES OMGGGGGGG"), but I read Destructoid's RSS feed religiously and the ratio of news to crap is pretty good imo. They're the only game news site I read anymore, actually.irixith wrote:I find sites like Destructoid and Kotaku to be the real bottom of the barrel. I think Destructoid factors into my bottom of the barrel comment because it's very .. teenage boy oriented. Does that make sense? It's like trying to read Maxim when you're over the age of 18 -- it's just irritating (but my oh my, those are some nice pictures).
