What RPG are you playing right now?

Dragon Quest 7 was weird as hell. I talked to a friend about it how you can go hours in between battles, and that includes the start of the game. I'm pretty sure I played it for like 2-3 hours and never got into a single battle, at the time that kind of instantly turned me off and I sold it right away. Haha, wish I didn't though. (stopped selling games years ago).

I have a love/hate relationship with FF7. I think the plot/characters are really jacked up and messy, half the cast isn't very likeable, but damn does the game have some great atmosphere, amazing music, and I loved the Materia system even if it was easy to abuse. It's funny that it's just one of those games I make fun of a lot with my friends, yet it's one of the FF's I've probably beaten the most several times, next to FF6 or something.

Xenogears is just amazing. Highly recommended.

Nostalgia - DS - And it turns out that 15 hours in, I get to the dragon temple and it freezes. An issue with the original shipment of carts. Im 3/4s of the way through the game and cant beat the ruddy thing.

I find it difficult to believe you haven't played FF7...

It's one of my greatest gaming embarrassments.

But anyway, I would strongly suggest Xenogears. Beyond the fact it's a good game, it's a landmark in console RPGs that should be at least partially played by all (as is FF7, I guess).

I'm like 2 hours into it, I would think I will play in more on a handheld though.

Don't worry, he doesn't actually die in the course of the game (I'm assuming you thought you just got a major spoiler). That's just a(n interesting) theory about why the events of FF8 are so bizarre and nonsensical.
