I went to my local GameStop and picked up Taito Legends 2 as well today. Wouldn't have known to look for it if I hadn't read about it in your post. Liquid Kids, Darius Gaiden/G Darius, Bust A Move Again, Space Invaders and a bunch of other games for 3 bucks? Yes, Please!

The crazy thing is, I never would have initially bought it if the case wasn't sitting there calling me from the shelf. I thought I already had the game, installed ages ago from a rental. I still can't get over the fact that a Gamestop here in the U.S. had a PAL version with a NTSC case. I suspect someone bought the game overseas and discovered it would not work in the states. Probably then did a NTSC purchase, switched out the PAL disc and "refunded" at Gamestop. Their loss, not knowing about the extra levels and how to convert it. It would be interesting to see how this PAL disc made it all the way to a southern California Gamestop.

The OCD collector in me, I found a store that had the NTSC version. I now have both the NTSC Green disc and the PAL Purple disc with all the extra features. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, I found a pic of the PAL Cover Insert.

The back is written in German, but that adds to the fun of owning an the PAL Import. Okay this is strange. The German cover on the above right shows the game is made by Behemoth Entertainment. According to Wiki, the Euro releases came out later with extra levels and published thru Zoo. Both logos are on the PAL disc, so looks like I should have the newer levels in there. I'll know once I get around to converting it.

I did manage to find an UK front cover off Google Images and a smaller back cover on Amazon.UK. They won't sell video games to other regions. The grainy UK back cover is now the inside liner note.

A quick test with Swap Magic places the game screen a little low, cutting off the bottom of the game. I'll set the same parameters as I did PAL Millionaire. If the PAL to NTSC conversion leaves too much of the screen cut off, maybe I can extract a bit from each ISO to get the extra levels and a full NTSC screen. Once converted, two backups are in order. A yellow envelope with a DVDR for each case.

Now I'm thinking about other Fan made PDA levels floating on the Internet, a way to incorporate them right to the DVDR. This and I haven't even converted the PAL game yet.

Maybe I should pick up the Gamecube version too?

Both the Playstation 2 and GameCube versions were published in America by O-3, a very small publisher that commonly throws out B-grade PC and DS games (as well as obscure Japanese games). The print run for Alien Hominid didn't last very long, with copies originally appearing for 30 dollars, then disappearing altogether within months.

The thrill of the hunt, finding that treasure! Liquids Kids has some great animation and sounds, my six year old nephew always plays this one.

Alas, I'm still missing the cover and instruction book of the 1st Taito Legends. If anyone spots a complete game or just the docs, please pick it up, I'll buy them for your troubles.
