Re: Import Dillemma - Please Help - Can anyone Vouch for...?
it's very easy. You open the PS2. You tape down 1 sensor with duct tape. Close the PS2. Then you ball up 2 tiny pieces of tissue and use them to block 2 more sensors. You are done. You can now open yr PS2 without it knowing that it's open.optmusprimenumber wrote:I'm definitely curious though... what pray tell is this "tissue/tape" trick?
I'm not usually all that capable of hard-mods. But I watched 3 different youtube videos so I could feel like I was familiar with the process. Like I said, took me under 10 minutes. So easy.

I just ordered a PAL version from Ebay... I should have it at the most by the first week of next month, I'll be ordering the Swap Magic in the next week or so. Thanks for the help guys! If anyone else as any insight feel free to chime in, this is my first ever import endeavor (if you couldn't tell

I'm assuming the PAL version offers an option for NTSC?
EDIT: Nevermind, I think what you were saying in yr original post is that you'll have Swap Magic force it into NTSC, right? (All of my PS2 imports are Japanese)

Yeah, I guess so... unless it doesn't work outright and then I guess I'll check out the world of ripping and patching. I was planning on the Japanese version originally, but that could be potentially insurmountable as far as knowing what's going on all the time (mission objectives, etc...).noiseredux wrote:I'm assuming the PAL version offers an option for NTSC?

Re: Import Dillemma - Please Help - Seeking Any and All Insight
yeah Japanese imports are best, as long as the text isn't a huge deal. SOME Euro games actually have a 50hz/60hz option built right in. I'm under the impression that Swap Magic can also force PAL into NTSC mode. But in some cases you'll have to patch, which isn't as hard as it sounds (at least from my PS1 experience).

From what I've found Shinobido doesn't have that option. Hopefully Swap Magic handles it. I'm not particularly afraid of the patching process, but I'm not into playing burned games if I don't have to. Especially in the event of Shinobido being as awesome as I think it will be because I'll be logging in many-a hours.noiseredux wrote:yeah Japanese imports are best, as long as the text isn't a huge deal. Re: Import Dillemma - R&D
Hm, perhaps I can replicate the parts of the Magic Switch... this can definitely be done. Thanks go to Noiseredux and MacGuyver.
