My friend and I might be competing at a local Play N Trade MVC3 tourney come April 23rd. This multi-console thing is really screwing me up though. I liked that last gen you could find arcade sticks that worked on either PS2 and Xbox or all three systems. Now since they are playing this on PS3 only come April I have to scramble around to get a Playstation1/2 stick and a decent converter.
After that maybe I'll go to East Coast Throwdown in Atlantic City, NJ since it's only about an hour from where I live. That's really all the competing I'm doing this year. Hopefully when I go to college there is a scene among the students or one close by.
P.S. Anyone have any good recommendations for PS2 to PS3 converters with little to no input lag?
Competitive gaming?
Re: Competitive gaming?
There's a good documentary on Professional/competitive gaming. It's called Frag, and it's not that bad of a watch. It talks about the ups and downs of competitive/professional gaming, how hard it is to get in, and what goes on behind the scenes.
My Console Collection: 3DS (JPNS), Dreamcast (US and JPNS), Genesis, N64 (US and JPNS), iPod Touch, NES, Xbox, Famicom, Colecovision, Super Famicom, Neo Geo AES, Sega Saturn, DS LL (JPNS), Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Whoops, looks like they had plans to move it to AC but couldn't. You can check out the info here: http://shoryuken.com/f7/east-coast-thro ... -a-266148/opticledilusi0n wrote:when is this in AC ?Kevman wrote: After that maybe I'll go to East Coast Throwdown in Atlantic City, NJ since it's only about an hour from where I live.
It's also in June which is nice since I will be very busy this month and next studying for tests.

I take my fightans very seriously, but I've yet to compete in any sort of televised tournament. Just local tournaments when they spring up.
By the way, I'm using an X-Arcade PS2-to-PS3 converter for my PS3, but I think I'm about to buy a dedicated PS3 pad. My SF Anniversary PS2 pads have served me well, but they've been worn down from years of use.

It's not wireless, is it?Bradtemple87 wrote: I have an Akuma ps3 pad in great shape I'm not using anymore if you are interested.
I've got a Cammy PS3 pad, but the d-pad was utterly balls and the wireless connectivity was complete ass. It kept disconnecting in the middle of play (like, constantly), and I actually broke the skin on my thumb when I first used it at a tournament.

It is from the madcatz wireless series, but I never noticed any issues with it. I have not use in that often so it works great. My blank pad on the 360 definitely feels a little wacky in the dpad.the7k wrote:It's not wireless, is it?Bradtemple87 wrote: I have an Akuma ps3 pad in great shape I'm not using anymore if you are interested.

I've always considered going for the Pokémon World Championships, but I've never gotten around to it.
Maybe this year.
Also, if they had dedicated Mario Kart DS tournaments, you can be sure I'd be there.
