I've never been too into death metal much myself, but funny enough... Death themselves I do like a good bit, a lot of their earlier material. I do like a lot of the "death n' roll"-ish kind of stuff though, like maybe Entombed fits here. I also heard Deceased - As the Weird Travel On recently and damn it kicks ass.

Did you see that post I made about meeting Richard Christy from Death on the other page?

Yes, I'm always envious of such stories. :P

The retro gamer bit just topped it off, haha.

Man I've barely even been to any concerts, but I guess that's what I get for living in KS (NE KS mind you, more cities around here than crops... lol). I saw Dream Theater a few years back when I was really into them, definitely kind of a phase band for me though, just not my thing anymore. They were with Into Eternity and Redemption I think. It was a fun experience though.

My friends and I had tickets to Blind Guardian, but they canceled at the last minute to go to Mexico or something. Least I got my money back. :x

I review a bunch of stuff at MA and have talked with some band members via email though which is pretty cool, even some classics like Helstar. But yeah can't say I've ever had the honor of meeting anyone so far.

I've been digging myself some Augury...the band is incredible. Think death metal with les claypool style bass, and a whole ton of groove.

I like a lot of other bands too like Five Finger Death Punch, Iron Maiden, Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, Suicide Silence, The Acacia Strain, Winds of Plague, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin, Rise Against, I Set My Friends On Fire, Parkway Drive, Rammstein. I also absolutely love Linkin Park's first two albums. I also like some Hollywood Undead
Do you like covers of video game music?
If you mean remixes, then yes. I like a decent amount of the stuff on OCremix. I usually listen to Doom covers, my favorite artist is probably Evil Horde.
Congratulations, you are now a fan of Powerglove:

I love Powerglove. They're so bad.

Also, check out the Dark Side of Phobos, though that's more industrial than metal.

I think I may be too. The PS 2 cover or the FF6 song. I don't know which made me smile more

I know this is getting a little off topic, but how do you guys feel about the PSX styled Doom music? I prefer the classic upbeat songs myself, but some of this stuff is pretty amazing and worked really well in Doom 64 I'd say.

This one I love, sounds like... Hell. Perhaps? haha

I really dig the first 7 or so tracks too, the more sci-fi ambient ones:

I used to listen to them pretty often like 3 or 4 years back. What material of theirs do you like? My favourite album was definitely Cause of Death. I like The End Complete a lot too.
First three are undisputed classics, though I think I actually like Slowly We Rot the most. 'Til Death is just such a great song.

You know it's funny, I don't consider myself a death metal fan either. However, Gothenburg metal or just MELODIC death metal in general seems to appeal to me. Early In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Dethklok, some Soilwork

Black Metal doesn't appeal to me either, but I like when bands experiement with it like Kvelertak or Agalloch, and I seem to like some Cradle of Filth songs
