I just got that for $10 off Amazon last week. I havent played it yet. As for what to play next I would go with the oldest one out of that group. Thats what I do when I cant decide on what game to play.Opa Opa wrote:Look up Nostalgia for the DS.
It's kinda like Skies of Arcadia.

I just started playing Chrono Trigger DS and so far, I'm loving it. The story is pretty good and there are not too many random encounters which is what annoyed me about Golden Sun. I like the ATB (Active Time Battle) system where it takes each character some amount of time to be able to do a move. It makes it more like real-time combat since I detest turn based RPG at the moment.lisalover1 wrote:followed by the DS port of Chrono Trigger. Gotta love the DS.
I'm trying to encourage my daughter to try Chrono Trigger but she's pushing DQ IX.

There's actually NO random encounters in CT. It's always the same monsters in the same places.

Which is one of the things I really don't like about it. Gets boring when you have to backtrack all the time and get in the same fights in the same places with the same enemies. You can't avoid them so what's the point of making them non-random?MrPopo wrote:There's actually NO random encounters in CT. It's always the same monsters in the same places.
Sorry, it just kind of pisses me off when I read reviews about CT that praise this feature up and down, and every single review I've read of it does. I'm all for cutting down on the amount of random battles, or doing away with them entirely in favor of some other form of battling (either ones you can see and sidestep if you want to, or just a straight up action game, or even ditching them completely a la Shadow of the Colossus). But CT just goes in the wrong direction w/ it.
(And yeah, I have a lot of issues w/ CT. I probably would like it a lot more if I'd played it back in the day, but it's flaws are just too hard for me to overlook now.)
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

You're doing it wrong. The only time I can think of any real backtracking in the game is after you first hear about Lavos in the future (and all those fights are dodgable) and a couple of potentially repeat fights in the Ocean Palace if you're going for all the treasures (and I think those are dodgable too).mobiusclimber wrote:[when you have to backtrack all the time
