Original Front Mission on PS1? SNES?

Hey guys! I haven't posted here before so if this thread should be somewhere else just move it.

I just have a simple question:

was the original Front Mission released on the Playstation in America? If so does anyone know how rare/expensive it is to buy? I do have an emulated version of it - but I love the game so much I want to own it on a console.

The first time that Front Mission 1 came to America was for the DS.

Hm, so is that the only official English port of original? I had read that it came on Playstation as 'Front Mission First', but I couldn't tell if it was only in Japan or if it was in America as well.

it was a japanese only release.

Mahh, oh well. That seems odd they never released it on console here.

Japanese RPG releases in the west were pretty sporadic until the success of Final Fantasy VII. Even then, though, Square always kinda neglected Front Mission.
