Any Strategy/Tactical Arcade Machines out there?

Post by the7k »

You guys may have seen an article about this: http://arcadeheroes.com/2011/03/28/also ... e-edition/

An unofficial Plants Vs Zombies arcade machine. While the game itself is just a shooter, it really makes me wonder if there's actually any arcade machines out there that tried (and maybe even succeeded) to bring a strategy-type game to arcade cabinets.

Obviously, a lot of games require strategy, but I'm looking for something along the lines of Tower Defense or RTS type stuff. Only thing I can think of is Rampart.

RTS... i would say no. That just isn't realistic for a cabinet.
There are strategy arcade games all over the place. I don't think they resemble tower defense.

I remember seeing some a couple years ago. Ill look into finding the names again. Just know Arcade RTS's are typically terrible games.

Stalin vs Martians was in the vein of them:

Is the idea of that game to have the Reds (Comunists) against the Reds (Mars is the red planet)?

I believe there is a Gundam strategy arcade setup here in Japan. There are several rows of these terminal/desks and a main screen up in front, a setup for a multiplayer experience. I haven't paid much attention to it, though, because I've been too busy playing Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna.

There was this old one where you built a fortress trying to protect your castle against incoming enemies. I'm not sure if it fits but it's as close as I know.

Well, kind of, because I don't remember the name. Should be easy to find, because it had two trackballs.

That's Rampart.
