I have no experience with the Onimusha franchise, but I was thinking about picking up one of the games today. There seems to be quite a few of them, so I was wondering which ones are the stand out titles? I'm not sure how story driven they are, so it would be crucial to have to start out with the first one, or should I just jump into a later one that might be significantly better?
Also, is the Blade Warriors 2D fighter worth trying? It kind of jumped out at me because you can unlock Mega Man characters, Musashi, and Sasaki Kojiro.
Quick Onimusha Question
Re: Quick Onimusha Question
I've only played the first two and I can't remember anything being too different between them play-wise. I would just start at the beginning I liked them both.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
Re: Quick Onimusha Question
I didn't enjoy Blade Warriors when I played it.
Anyway, the stand out titles are the first two. They focus on different characters, but the first has a great survival horror feel, while the second has a pseudo-dating sim feel with several partners who show up to help you out. It affects the plot too, as certain scenes are viewable only if certain characters like you.
I've also played the third, but I really didn't like it.

I'm in the middle of demon siege - number 3, and I really enjoy it. Typical beat em up/survival thing going on. I'd like to play through the first two. I'm. Acutally going to finish genji - dawn of the samurai next. You might enjoy it if you like the onimusha series.

Re: Quick Onimusha Question
I would just play from the first one, considering its pretty cheap to buy 1,2,3 for ps2. It probably cost you less than 20 bucks

Re: Quick Onimusha Question
Oh, I hated the settings for the 3rd, as the background look like a grotesque abomination of East and West. And with the openings, I still like the first one the best, as it captures the beauty of Japanese culture and ugliness of war.
Still, I don't know why Capcom removed the JP voice option from the 2nd and beyond. And there was even a SRPG game based on the franchise released for the GBA!

Re: Quick Onimusha Question
Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna go with the Xbox enhancement of the original Onimusha called Genma Onimusha. I didn't even realize this had horror elements or dealt with supernatural things, but I guess I should have with a title like 'Onimusha'. The thought just somehow never occurred to me.
