Re: does anyone else buy used clothes at the thrift store..
I do it the other way around. I look for clothes, and if there is a decent game there i snag it.

i used to buy a ton of t-shirts back in high school. in fact, much of my wardrobe was from thrift stores.
usually when my friends and i went, it was us and actual poor people looking for clothes. this one time, however, there was another group of kids looking for "cool" t-shirts. those fuckers found the coolest sweater: mc hammer was written all over it in various colors. hard to explain, but it was the coolest sweater ever. it was an knited swear too, not the sweatpant type material. all these years later, i still am pissed those fuckers found it before my friends and i found it. they were wearing it around the store laughing. i was so jealous.
but does anybody else kind of feel bad looking for clothes when there are poor families who actually need them?

Yeah that has happened a couple of times. I hate when I some emo or hip kids trying to buy tshirts and electronics. Its my favorite location to go to find goodies since was very little. I found a bape sweater of Super Mario over priced and I think someone bought it. One time I saw teenager grab a huge stack of sega genesis games and I was so pist that I didn't get them. I wanted to grow my genesis collection I usually rented them instead of buying. I've found a complete version of einhander but never purchased, it sat there for almost weeks. I passed a large collection of ps1 games and demos (most missing 1st or 3 rd rpg discs) in one case, it was my mistake. I also passed on a grey sega saturn with hookups (no games) that I regret getting for $10. I had urge to go the bathroom badly it was best deal I passed on.final fight cd wrote:i used to buy a ton of t-shirts back in high school. in fact, much of my wardrobe was from thrift stores.

Never clothes but I once brought Crash Bandicoot on PS1 for 50 cents that froze up after the 3rd level. I'm not sure how I was disappointed considering its price.

For clothing the charity shops in my area are often overpriced so I rarely buy clothing but on the plus side the retro consoles and games are usually dirt cheap.

Clothes, games, books, toys, paintings, electronics, furniture. I'd estimate that 80% of my household has been purchased from thrift stores. It is a fun hobby all on it's own to hunt down or luck into the good stuff beyond just video games.

I don't buy clothes at the thrift store, but I wear all my clothes long enough that it looks like I did.

no for one very important reason... BED BUGS. Its a major issue in most of the country. I hate even walking into a thrift store for this reason. But you should stay away from the clothes.

take the clothes home and wash them immediately in hot water and do a hot dry cycle and it shouldnt be a problem - it is what I have done for many years.Jamisonia wrote:no for one very important reason... I always make a b-line for the electronics in any thrift store/goodwill/salvation army, but if I need clothing or if I am just curious, Ill thumb through the offerings. Bought a suit and an awesome Wizard of Oz shirt from Goodwill last year.
