All my memorable moments relates to my father (which is strange...)
1. The exact date was 9/10/99, I remember my father bleeping and complaining at a 'video games for less' employee until I got a Dreamcast (without a preorder ^^); Korean ignorance for the win (or for the Koreans out there, 'mushikhan' ~ ness for the win ^^)
2. First game I actually finished (Final Fantasy 3 [Final Fantasy 6]... I was 7 at that time... it was a big accomplishment ^^).
3. When my father played the original Zelda on the Nintendo with me.

For me, it would be right when we got the NES. I remember convincing my gullible little brother that Mario was a stupid name and Luigi sounded a lot cooler. He fell for it, and I always got to play first.
Another time would be after I spent nearly a year saving allowance money for the SNES. On the night I finally got it, the same brother and I got into a fight over who's turn it was, and my mom took it away from me on the first day. (And I saved up MY money for it!)

I have quite a few, but the earliest ones all revolve around playing (or watching my brother and dad play) the NES. It didn't really matter what game (thought mainly I remember Mario and Jaws) but I was simply overjoyed by the stuff. I remember laughing harder than I ever have. That's what I remember most--a lot of laughter.
I also remember the first "real" PC game I ever played: Quest for Glory. I fell in love with the series and am still amazed by it today.
Also on the PC front, I remember staying up almost all night with my good friend playing a 2 player game of Serf City (later known as Settlers). We'd then go to bed and discuss our strategy for the following morning. I'm also quite fond of my memory of playing Ultima Online on Christmas morning around the time of its launch. I had no idea what I was doing and the world felt HUGE. I remember taking in the landscape, the snow, the creatures and the very living world. It kept me captivated for the next 9 years and I even ended up writing my dissertation about it. Only after having my account hacked did I move on. No other MMO has been able to recreate that feeling for me.
More recent memories include those with my college roommate and I playing Smash Bros. way too much. Skipping class. Skipping sleep. Skipping dates. We also replayed FF Tactics with much the same result. Definitely a lot of screaming and yelling as we battled through Smash Bros. We would even do random CPU battles and provide commentary. We especially enjoyed cheering on Mr. Game and Watch.
Of course there are a lot more (the first time I saw Guardian Heroes comes to mind). Most of my memories involve playing games with family/friends. It's tough to recapture a lot of those feelings with games now, but my friends and brother and myself find ourselves returning to the classics and enjoying them much more than contemporary games.

I related some of my moments in another thread, but a few more that stick in my mind are when I first played Ecco and Flashback and Out of This World. It was so exciting to play a game with a strong storyline which draws you into the game and drives you to get to the next level just so you can see how the story develops. I also remember waiting what seemed like FOREVER for Heart of the Alien to arrive so I could play the other half of Out of This World.

What where? I guess finally beating super mario land on the gameboy was my biggest moment in gaming since it essentially took me 11 years to beat. Got my gameboy when I was maybe 4 with mario land and could never beat the final boss for the 3 years straight I played it but like a year ago I went on a car trip and just brought my SP and mario land fucking pw0ned the boss.jEckt wrote:woops, didn't realize i double posted...
