Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
this is like my 3rd one because the last two were returned due to being defective. I manage to get this copy for around 20 at Amazon, while the last two were 40 each @ ebay. guys, better watch out when you are looking for this game. it took me 3 tries to find one that works flawlessly from "beginning to end." I started looking for this game since last year, so that gives you an idea of how time consuming it was to test it..
Re: Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
Rock on, that's one of the remaining reasons to still own the system IMO (PSP version notwithstanding).
Sometimes it's not entirely the game's fault though, sometimes the system just doesn't like a game.
Case in point; I have 2 Dreamcasts. One of them simply will not boot my Bomberman Online game (actual game too, I don't do copy's). It's the only game it has issues with.
The other system plays the game with absolutely no problems.
Go figure
Anyways, I have Powerstone 2 and, though it's a little beat up, playes without a hitch.
But I wouldn't necessarily blame the sellers from your bad experiences (as long as they refunded). The game might actually work on other systems.

This statement does not sit well with me.nightrnr wrote:Rock on, that's one of the remaining reasons to still own the system IMO .
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
Ooohh, how have I offended thee? Something against rocks?
Actually, I'm more referring to what exclusives are still on the system.
IMO, the Dreamcast was torn apart and scattered across the next generation of systems of the time.
I still have mine though. I just can't let it go (I'm not sure that "reason" has much to do with it though).

Re: Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
i sold my psp copy just to get both 1 and 2 on the dreamcast. the minute i saw this game for 20 dollars at amazon with everything, I made the payment right away. I did of course return the other two copies I got and warned them not to ever sell defective copies. they were also brand new looking and the sellers even stated that they work, but they can't fool me because I know my dreamcasts work fine.
Re: Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
So you don't think there's even the slightest possibility that the games might work on other systems but not yours?
Like I already explained, Dreamcasts can be finicky sometimes. Maybe you're right, but don't be so quick to blame the seller.
And a good seller would refund your money regardless. There might not have been any foolery involved.
Just my thoughts...
I would've kept the PSP game though. The Dreamcast games are awesome for multiplayer and playing on the TV, but Power Stone is also quite fun on the go.
I got em on both systems with no regrets.

Congrats on getting Power Stone 2. However, the original Power Stone is about 10 times better imo.
Re: Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
I agree 100%. The Power Stone series lost the frantic yet somewhat deep game play it had that only comes from a one on one only fighter when it jumped to four players. The game felt too random and more chaotic but in a bad way.Inazuma wrote:Congrats on getting Power Stone 2. However, the original Power Stone is about 10 times better imo.
Biggest problems for me are the dynamic stages and a surplus of power stones. I know Power Stone 1 had stage specific events like pots falling on your head dizzying you to fire and giant fans, but it didn't take away from the combat, rather it enhanced it in a way. Power Stone 2 took away from the fighting when you were interrupted mid-fight to climb to a higher level or escape something. Adding two-three power stones took away from what made the game fun in the first place, the frantic, king of the hill style play that came from having only one person able to go into "power stone mode."
Still a good game though and I congratulate you, but if you can pick up the original give it a shot.
Re: Finally got me a "working" copy of Power Stone 2
QFT. My brother and I argued about which one was better. I preferred the original since I could focus on fighting while he preferred two since there were more jewels and dynamics stages that would result in cheap deaths on my part. Regardless I sold them both for a nice profit since I found them on Craigslist for $20 together. The PSP compilation suits me just fine.Kevman wrote:I agree 100%.
