Thank you. That is what I call support. :)
That and a job can be found, TVs can be bought, games can too, but family is a one-time only thing.

Not to bring up scary videos, but I just saw this one. It is probably the most jaw-dropping video I've seen.

If mass destruction bothers you, then do not watch. It really is scary, at least for me.

As a family guy my first priority is to ensure the safety of my family and regardless of the "safety" of the seepage into the environment, we're dealing with uncharted territory here: 6 reactors in one location and other plants that are also not in good shape either. I'd like to think everything will be okay but this is a situation where it's much better to be safe than sorry.
DDD - if you are moving away from Japan because of the Quake and Tsunami and because you had enough of that kind of stuff you have my full support. Statistically Japan is not a good place to live if you are fed up with being "uprooted" by disasters!

If you are moving away from Japan because you are afraid of radioactivity concerns, sorry but you will have to do without my "approval" (not that it matters to you I think).
If the reactors and radioactivity is the real reason for moving away, you (or someone in your family) are irrationally overreacting. But if you can not help worrying even after solidly informing yourself, then I guess it is better to move away - the unwarranted stress (not the radioactivity itself) will take a toll on your health.

A decent article on the BBC about it, hopefully will help your reduce your fears until you are able to get out of there.

DDD I don't mean to offend you. I'm just not sure you should be making decisions about permanent relocation while you are possibly not in the best state of mind for such decisions.

I'm concerned that you may be making a wrong decision. I honestly don't care about taking the pedantic "I'm right and you are wrong" thing here, I'm worried that you may be uprooting your family without good reason. The media certainly does not help as they are not informing the public adequately (with few exceptions).

It may just be that I'm misunderstanding your reasons for leaving, but I tried to "hedge" for that in the previous post.
In any case, being constantly afraid is not going to do you or your wife any good, so if the only way you can relax is to get out of there, then certainly go ahead and leave - particularly if it is for a short while during the most concerning period. Perhaps if you go away for a while you can delay more permanent decisions until you are calmer.

I really don't think this is the place to be giving advice on whether someone should move from Japan or not, or that anyone on here is really in a position to give such personal advice.

We do not know each others situations fully. There could very well be factors other than worries about radiation to consider. As well, giving advice on whether to move or not based on a very amateur idea of how radiation is affecting the Kanto area is not helpful at all. Reporters at CNN, the BBC, NHK, etc. do NOT know the full situation. They are mearly reporting what they were told, after it has passed through both coorporate and government filters. There are conflicting reports from major media coorporations as well, and I am sure anyone considering a move has done plenty of reseach and is basing their desicion from that.

Perhaps the talk of the quake/tsunami can go back on topic?
