Handheld RPG recommendations?
Re: Handheld RPG recommendations?
All titles that were brought up are solid choices.

If you run out of or get bored with GBA RPGs I recommend you pick up a PSP, it blows the GBA out of the water.

there's a ton of incredible ports, but what are some of the better PSP exclusive RPG's? I have Half-Minute HeroCroooow! wrote:If you run out of or get bored with GBA RPGs I recommend you pick up a PSP, it blows the GBA out of the water.

Tactics Ogre! (Fine, not really exclusive. But still)noiseredux wrote:there's a ton of incredible ports, but what are some of the better PSP exclusive RPG's? I liked the Legend of Heroes games, but the translation is pretty awful.

Crimson Gem Saga is quite good. It's a really cool traditional turn based RPG. There's also an endless amount of ports and remakes. I'd suggest Star Ocean First Departure in that department since it's the only US release of the original Star Ocean.noiseredux wrote:there's a ton of incredible ports, but what are some of the better PSP exclusive RPG's? of course Tactics Ogre rules, but yeah I'm wondering about exclusives and such. I already knew TO was awesome before the PSP made it even better.dlmvii wrote: Tactics Ogre! (Fine, not really exclusive. But still)

thanks. Never heard of Crimson Gem Saga.brunoafh wrote: Crimson Gem Saga is quite good. It's a really cool traditional turn based RPG. There's also an endless amount of ports and remakes. for the most part I tend to get games on PS1/PS2 first and I get a lot of exclusives on PSP. There's exceptions though -- like Final Fantasy. I have those on both. Or a game like Tactics Ogre where the remake is vastly improved. And in the case of Xseed games, I'm a sucker for soundtracks, etc.

Minish Cap isn't really that great of a game (in my opinion). LTTP rules, but I was trying to think of handhelf exclusives more than obvious ports.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:I'm amazed nobody's mentioned Minish Cap or LTTP yet.

I always dug Minish cap it was a really neat game in the series sorta like the GameBoy's Majora.noiseredux wrote:Minish Cap isn't really that great of a game (in my opinion). Sigma Star Saga is a great combo of RPG and SHMUP in one and Scurge Hive was a great Metroid style RPG that was really fun.
