That sucks it died again, but this statement is stupid even if you want to 'stick it to the man'. You'd only be screwing game companies that had nothing to do with your hardware dying.d123456 wrote: When it dies again I am getting a ps2 with HD loader and I am never buying a retail game ever again. it´s going to be illegal downloads only.

"I am never buying a retail game ever again" is quite a bit different than "I am never buying a PS2 game ever again".AppleQueso wrote:how many game companies make any money off of ps2 game sales these days anyhow

Re: Happy New Ye........YLOD...EDIT 1 month later again
I got it back again and it works, but probably not for long.
From experience I say, do not get it fixed unless you absolutely need to. you will probably extend it´s life by a month. And that is just not worth the price of the repair.
Then again, maybe you will be luckier and/or have a better repair guy in your neighbourhood.
For those who haven´t had a ylod on their 60GB, enjoy it while you can. It will die on you someday, be prepared to be furious when it happens.
Actually I recommend forum members to think about selling it before the big ylod comes and just get a newer slim ps3.
I don ´t play it that much now. It´s not fun knowing that any second it can ylod again.

I won't get furious when/if it happens because owning 360's have trained me well.d123456 wrote:I got it back again and it works, but probably not for long.

Well I own a second generation 40GB PS3 and this has inspired me to back-up my saves.
I thought PS3's were better than this?

They're just as susceptible to failure as 360s, they suffer from the exact same fault. Poor quality unleaded solder on their CPU/GPUs. Sony refuses to acknowledge the problem though so anybody with a launch PS3 is essentially fucked. Sony don't give a shit. At least you get 3 years peace of mind with the 360.BRIK wrote:Well I own a second generation 40GB PS3 and this has inspired me to back-up my saves.

Well considering my warranty is well out of date, I better actually go and back-up those saves.

That is, if Microsoft ever actually bothers to send you the necessary info on how to send it in.Niode wrote:At least you get 3 years peace of mind with the 360.
