On the 4 port, only ONE cable going from the console to the TV, the RF signal cable also supplies the power! An amazing feature of the day.
Best Power switch
Re: Best Power switch
Atari 5200 - Simple elegance of Push On Push Off. The 4 port model also automatically switched the cable box. The LED under the tinted plastic. The raised Logo also very purty.

Original Game Boy. It clicks and it locks the game in place.

Re: Best Power switch
I'm thinking the original Genesis/Mega Drive. I love the slide switch.
Honerable mentions: Turbografx-16/PC engine, original PS3 (love the touch sensitive idea!)

Re: Best Power switch
i like the PS2 and the Wii style switches. i like feeling like i'm not really pushing anything and the thing just turns on.
the Atari 2600 power switch is awesome, too. you really have to get behind it.

I was gonna say the same thing about the SNES. The power button moves a lever which either locks the console in place (old design) or turns the power off if the cartridge is ejected (newer design).Croooow! wrote:Original Game Boy. It clicks and it locks the game in place.

Re: Best Power switch
I have a preference for slide-switches rather than buttons. And out of the systems with slide switches, I love the switches on Neo Geo AES, TurboGrafx, and Genesis Model 1.

PS3/360/Wii.
I don't have to get out of bed to turn them off!

QFT. It bothers the hell out of me that the DS Lite had that push switch. My MP3 player has that too.Croooow! wrote:Original Game Boy. It clicks and it locks the game in place.

Re: Best Power switch
Just had a though: my least favorite is the oXbox. I always get the power button and eject button mixed up since the eject button is bigger, which makes no sense to me. This ever happen to anyone else?
