Zack wrote:Hey everyone,

This forum seems like a good fit for me. So uh... obviously I'm new, my name is Zack, I'm 19, but I've been playing games my entire life. I've recently gotten back into retro gaming, it's entirely different playing retro games now than when I was a little kid.

I dusted off my Dreamcast yesterday and ordered a new controller and AV cables from the racketboy store, (Totally surprised at being able to buy a NiB controller) most of my games are gone now, but I'm sure it'll still be fun, I'll just have to pick up some new ones.

I've also been looking to buy a premodded Saturn, (So I can play those translated SF3 scenarios) I've never played one before so I'm very excited to get my hands on one.

If you haven't noticed by now I was once a Sega fanboy, I even found my Genesis a couple of weeks ago and have been playing some Shining Force 2 and Shining in the Darkness; I have the powerbase converter, but haven't found any master system games I've wanted to play. I also still have a NES, but I lost my SNES, I've tried emulators but it's just not the same.

My favorite genre is RPGs, but I also enjoy pretty much any other genre.

Outside of gaming I also enjoy reading, writing and tabletop games. (Such as D&D and Warhammer, plus many other RPGs and miniature wargames)

I suppose that's about it, if you took enough time to read my rambling about myself, I give you a salute.
Nice to meet you! As a big RPG and Sega fan myself, I have to recommend the first Phantasy Star and to a lesser extent Miracle Warriors if you're looking for RPGs for your Power Base Converter. Also, a fellow Racketboy member recently informed me that Ultima IV was also released for SMS but only outside the U.S. Haven't had a chance to try that one out myself.

Happened to find myself a nice CIB copy of Vay for Sega CD earlier today from the guys who brought you Lunar to quench my Sega RPG thirst for awhile. I've never been able to give the Shining Force games a go, but definitely want to try them out! Anyways, it's nice to meet you and I'm sure you'll fit right in here!

hai dar.

After years of emulation I've finally started collecting the actual consoles and the games, starting with a Dreamcast :)
I stumbled across this site while trying to get info on the Dreamcast its self, and found this forum! So here I be now.

Hey Everybody,

My name is Scott, but a few years ago I needed to make an Xbox Live tag and created the name RetroScott for myself which I have continued to use for everything since it describes not only my gaming habits but also my 80's & 90's alternative music that I just can't seem to stop listening to. I am 28 years old and am from Sparta, New Jersey (THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!).

I have been gaming since 1987 when my parents got me a Nintendo, with Jackal, Tag Team Wrestling, & Top Gun (Try to land the plane it's impossible) and from there have been gaming on everything. My favorite systems would probably be the Super Nintendo & Playstation 1, but there are a few games I like on them all. RPG's would definately be my 1st category of choice, but I'll play anything. My favorite games of all time are Elder Scrolls Oblivion & Fallout 3, I just think these games blow me out of the water and even though they're not retro now, one day they will be.

I have been emulating since before 2000 and I love to sit around and try to troubleshoot emulator problems. Seriously, shoot me PM's or IM me or something and I'll try to help you out. I only emulate and retrogame from the Sega Dreamcast and down because that's what I think the window is until the next generation comes out.

I have just a year ago started collecting video games as a hobby and have found this a lot more expensive than originally thought but I make do. I have a few gems, nothing crazy like $1,000 or anything like that but I do love my Final Fantasy II & III complete in box. Final Fantasy II is probably still my favorite, because I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly you get 3 airships, one with a fire protected hull, one with the hook lift, a hovercraft & a spaceship. You know, not to overdo it or anything.

That's my intro and my 1st post. I felt like I should make it a good one.

I've been reading Racketboy's articles for maybe 2 or 3 years years now. For some reason, it just dawned on me a couple of weeks ago that I may want to join the forums. I'm particularly interested in the trading post.

Also, I know fastbilly1 in real life. :p

Thanks! I'll be adding more if I come across anything else or decide to get rid of any more stuff. I did just remember to add one of my store displays. I may let more of those go eventually.

Hi there :)

Not all that much to say about me I guess. Name's Dennoman, Denno for short :p I'm from Belgium, primarily a fighting game collector. Nothing spectacular as of now, but 100-ish games isn't too bad I guess if you're that genre specific :)

Looking for a good condition box and cart of ClayFighter: Sculptor's Cut at the mo, as I managed to snag a crappy looking cart with EXCELLENT condition manual off Amazon for $65 ( ). There was one on eBay but he wanted $250 for it and wouldn't directly ship it to me, so I said stuff him lol :p

I hope many of my questions on retro gaming can be answered by joining this forum, and obviously I'll help where I can with my (albeit limited) expertise as well :)

Howdy~

Name's Zac, from Indiana. 24 years old, been playing video games since before I can remember and started collecting maybe 8-ish years ago. Assistant manager at a small locally owned game shop (both retro and current...you name it, we carry it); aaron pops in at the store from time to time and has been bugging me to join, so here I am :P

In terms of collecting, I'm a shmup guy. Not terribly good at them and I honestly don't spend a ton of time playing them...but they're fun and interesting to collect, and I enjoy them, so I always pick up what shmups I find and can afford.
Also got really into NGPC recently, pieced together a near-complete CIB US library (maybe 5-10 games away) over the past few months and am after any CIB games that weren't released in the US as well. While we're on the subject of SNK, I also just picked up a Neo-Geo CD and will probably focus in on that for a while.
Other than that, I'm pretty much up for anything when it comes to games as long as I can enjoy it. Got a little less than 750 games now & maybe 20 systems, although I'm starting to scale down. Planning an extended trip to Japan later on this year so I'll need the money and there's a LOT of stuff I have that I likely won't ever play.

Outside of games, I'm really into a Japanese pop idol group called Morning Musume...have been to Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo to see them over the last couple years. Going back to Japan at the end of summer for the final stretch before my favorite member (Takahashi Ai, see avatar) leaves.
Been studying Japanese for about 4 years now, planning to become an interpreter and hopefully end up working in the entertainment world at conventions, etc.

Looking forward to getting involved here ;D
