WWE All-Stars (PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, PS2)

Post by Weekend_Warrior »

Oh man, this might turn out to be the best wrestling game ever made! Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Andre The Giant, Jake The Snake, Mr. Perfect, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Shawn Michaels, Macho Man, Million Dollar Man, Honky Tonk Man, Sgt. Slaughter, Jimmy Snuka, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Roddy Piper, The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, John Cena, Rey Mysterio, and MORE!

What I really like about this game though is that they focused on making it an arcade-style wrestling game instead of a boring simulation. I mean, really - wrestling is supposed to be fun and entertaining! So I imagine a good wrestling video game should be one that's a little over the top. And the fact that they're bringing all these classic old wrestlers back from the heyday of the WWF (before it was called WWE) is icing on the cake.

*Special Note* This is the second WWE game produced by video game designer, Sal Divita, the first being WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game.

Hits stores next week - March 29th! And yes, it's even getting a PS2 release!!

Can't wait. Should be a lot of fun. 8)

Ummmmm.... there are about half a dozen games already out with 80s/90s WWF/NWA/etc. stars out, the most recent being Legends of Wrestlemania. This one looks way over the top to the point that it doesn't resemble wrestling at all. It's like that Mortal Kombat/WWF mix game from the mid-90s that you mentioned. BLAH!

This is a pass for me. The only good thing is that it has Randy Savage.

as cool as it is that it's getting a PS2 release, I'd much rather have seen SNK Arcade 0 released on PS2 instead.

It's not really THAT over the top. It just takes all the characters signature moves and exaggerates them.

Haven't you ever heard of NBA Jam? It's kind of like that.. except more restrained, with wrestlers.

And all the previous games with these classic old WWF wrestlers were pretty lame/forgettable. With this game, I think they tried to do something different and make it stand out a bit. Personally, I think they succeeded. It looks like a lot of fun to me. Would be a blast to play online. Plus, there's also a Wii version. So the controls might also be interesting.

I'm going to agree with Weekend Warrior on this one.

Making the game a little more arcadey is a great idea if you are trying to turn a profit. Wrestling fans are pretty intense...but they are also not a majority demographic. I was reading Nintendo Powers coverage of this game and the approach the developer is taking almost makes it interesting to someone like me, and I pretty much detest wrestling.

So by going about it the way they are, the developer is creating a much larger potential audience base. It's a smart move.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'd rather you and I spend our money on things more Capcom related.

Hey guys. Just wanted to say that I got to play the demo at a local Best Buy today on the 360 and the game is AWESOME! I was a little surprised by how much of the game was available to play, too - they had over half the entire cast of characters selectable, and almost all the different wrestling modes; like 1 on 1, tag team, cage match, royal rumble, etc.

I thought the graphics and character animations looked extremely impressive, almost as good as Street Fighter IV's visuals I'd say.

However, the controls did seem a little confusing and a bit sluggish at times. Since they have several different moves and strategies assigned to the same one or two buttons combinations, occasionally when I tried to perform one move it instead did another. It didn't happen all that often but enough for me to take notice and scratch my head a bit.

Another small gripe was that the loading at times seemed a little too long, as well. Especially for a demo. At one point I was honestly worried that maybe the Xbox 360 or disc had frozen up!

Other than that, the game does run very fluid and smooth. I was very impressed with the overall presentation and polish on this game. Not sure if I'll pick it up this week when it comes out. But I am honestly thinking about it. It was a lot of fun to play. :)
