DoReMi Fantasy Help

Im emulating this wonderful game but I have a few questions. I figured out that different color clothes tells me how many hits I have left. Is there a run button? What items do what in my inventory? Why isnt this game out in America (wii doesnt count). Those are the questions I have.

I've only played briefly, but I do know if you hold down Y while moving, you will run. Also, holding Y while staying still charges up a multi-directional attack.
