What PSP ISO Loader?

Post by HeavyMetalMe »

What does everyone use to load ISO and CSOs on their PSP? I've been using Devhook, but am looking for something else because it won't play some newer games I'd like to to. I downloaded that Easy Installer bologna for 3.4 OE, but it doesn't seem to want to work... It keeps saying my PSP isn't at 75% battery power, though it definitely is... Any other solutions?

I just use CFW. I'm using Dark Alex's cfw 3.90.2 works fine. Loads isos from the game menu which is so much nicer than having to load a separate program. Plus it looks completely legit to most people looking at my PSP.

What firmware are you on right now?

I'm at 1.5. I'll look into this "cfw 3.90.2" though.

I think you'll need to upgrade a few times before you get there. I was on 2.80 and it wouldn't let me upgrade all the way had to go to 3.52 m33 first. then 3.52m33-2 and then it finally let me flash to 3.90 and then upgrading to 3.90 m33-2.

I definately recomend upgrading to the latest custom firmware. 1.50 is so limited. Devhook is always gonna be laggy because you're loading the firmware from your memory stick. If you boot isos in there you're gonna see tons of lag. Vice City stories is crucified by it alongside a lot of 'streaming' games.

Best thing about CFW is native iso launching as well as popsloader which lets you use psx2psp to convert psx isos to psp eboots to play natively on your psp without an emulator.

Yeah, I'm really new to all of this. Are you by chance on AIM and would have a few minutes to spare to walk me through this?

upgrade to custom firmware please!! First step get 3.52 M33, get sony firmware files for 1.50 and 3.52 follow the instructions included in the readme on the Dark Alex files which are rather easy. Then get 3.52 M33-3 or -4 update to that then grab any newer custom firmware, I recommend 3.71 and up.

Things have changed a lot from 1.50 everything is much nicer now, games run directly on the XMB ISO or CSO, themes are now available, wallpapers from any pic you have, video resolutions, mp3 visualizations and so on... never thought someone was still left behind. I've been loading ISOs since 1.5 so I know what pain in the ass it was with devhook and everything.

So, same as what I said a week ago then? :P

I don't have AIM unfortunately. I have practically every other irc account though.

Here's a short synopsis though.

download these

http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=1210 <- cfw 3.52 m33

http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=4 <- 1.50 update (rename this to 150.pbp)

http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=1209 <- 3.52 update (rename this to 352.pbp)

unzip. follow readme. plug in charger. copy files to relevant places that the readme tells you. run the update creator from game menu in 1.50 psp. wait a bit and this will make the updator. now go back to the game menu and run the updator, it will ask you a couple of times to continue, just press x and after a while it will ask you to restart. Thats it you have 3.52 m33.

You could leave it at that but i'd recommend going to upgrade to 3.90 m33 just for the extra features and stability. It's the exact same process to get there, you just need to get 3.90 official update ( http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=1406 ) and grab the 3.90 m33 from dark alex's site ( http://www.dark-alex.org/ )

I'm a total noob to this whole iso loader thing.

I upgraded my psp to 3.90 the other day and then downloaded Dark-Alex's 3.90 M33 today and tried to run the update, but it won't let me. It says that my psp is already updated.

Then I downloaded the other file(390m33_2 on his site), ran the update it starts to show a load screen but then it says cannot load game.

1. Do I have to update the psp with Dark Alex's M33 to load ISO games?
2. How do I load the games once the psp is updated?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that you have to DOWNGRADE to the official 1.50 FW (there are various tools to do this; check out the Files section of this site: http://pspupdates.qj.net/), and then do the update process to custom firmware (the current newest version is Dark Alex's 3.90 M33-2). After all that, there should be an ISO folder in the root of your PSP where you can put ISOs or CSOs. Put something in this folder and go to Game -> Memory Stick on your PSP and you should see the ISO or CSO you've loaded.

This is just a brief outline of what you need to do, more info can be found at the forums on http://pspupdates.qj.net/

yes you need a custom firmware to load isos. you can't update to 3.90 M33 from an official sony firmware, there are specific methods for M33 firmware installations which involve the famous pandora battery. follow sirkit's advice, read some tutorials and google a lot. other helpful sites
