I think HD re-releases can be a good thing if done right. Developers have to find a happy medium between keeping the feel and soul of the original game while dressing it up for jaded new-comers. Try to cash in on nostalgia and we'll smell it a mile away.

I would not mind seeing Metal Gear Solid series in HD, I would like also like to see Mark of Kri, Guilty Gear XX2, Beyond Good & Evil, Resident Evil 2 (be like the GCN RE1, but don't change the game too much), Indigo Prophecy, and Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.
But what I would like see (say with me folks) Shenmue 1&2
Ok, I would like to follow up with this post. Since BG&E got its HD revision. I would like to replace that one with Jet Moto 2. Mainly because I have dreamed about it once that this game got its HD enhancement and I was playing at the Nightmare stage and it looked so freaken awesome. Plus this game has such a huge nostalgia value to me and I want this game to gain a second life, I generally want everyone to play it.
I'm all for old games keeping their original gameplay and controls, but having their graphics redone. For the 2D stuff it's trivial to include to the original graphics (which I very much appreciate). I constantly buy them again in the hopes they keep doing it (Where's my Megaman 2 Powered Up?!?).
Regarding the Megaman series in HD. I'd like to see it done in this style (Hire Jonathan Lavigne!):
The 2 PS1 games I'd most like to see redone at ultra-high resolution are Ghost in the Shell for PS1 and Castlevania: SOTN done sorta SFII HD style.
Did I mention I want to see a turtles beat em up in the style of the comics? 2D. Not cell shaded. In Black and White. Although color would still be cool as long as it looked like a living comic book.

Maybe something like Turtles in Time meets Comix Zone?
