This video needs Mad World dubbed over it. It's pretty sad.

I saw a lot of people yesterday crying pretty hard about this, about how Microsoft was truly trying to kill PC gaming. Me? I thought the video was wild. Persistence across devices, a unified experience. Isn't that what everyone is striving for? Yes, gaming is rushing into a future currently filled with microtransactions, but that's simply because they're still experimenting and trying to find out what works the best. We're the guinea pig generation.

That part where the guy gets the IM (I need help!) and he drops into the game? Cool.

No, not at all. This kind of stuff is what keeps me a retro gamer. I like my technology modular, independent, and distinct. None of this integrated always connected crap for me, tyvm.

I think the Steam platform is the right level of integration. You have a central client with an API that the games can use, but it isn't all pervasive. It gives me just enough tools to make it easy to see that my buddy is currently playing TF2 and lets me easily join in with him. Or Hobie can message me from in game and tell me how much he's hating Deus Ex as he plays it. What the Live platform does that I don't like is the emphasis on things like the avatars and the social network outside of the games.

This, gaming doesn't need to be a social network.

That's really the only thing about the video I didn't like and the whole bit with the dress is just more female stereotyping

Other than that, nothing HORRIFYING about the video

Every aspect i hate about video games in one video.

DAMN YOU FARMVILLE

But really how many sterotypes where in that video? Why dont they break the mold for once it's obvious that guys play puzzle games and girls play fps to so why not be cutting edge and mix it up a little.
