Nakitek Genesis/SNES controllers with weid d-pad

I can't seem to find much info on these. Have any of you used these, you just kinda glide your thumb on the D-pad.

It appears to be basically a 6 button Turbo Touch 360. The pad area looks like it is from the same mold.
