I've been in a soul caliber mood lately. I need to pick up the first one on DC.

Project Justice. I am determined to get as good at this game as I always have been at the original Rival Schools.

Damn if I understand why Capcom lets franchises like this languish.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Mainly Street fighter IV and Street fighter 3. have been trying out some other fighters on this gen including tekken 6 and soul caliber 4.

I ordered Gundam battle assault on accounts of seeing it getting mentioned loads around here

It took me a bit to hit my stride in it, but after beating Story Mode with all 12 suits, I realized how awesome it was. Turns out the biggest problem I had is that I didn't really care for how many of the suits played. But runs 10-12 in Story Mode were pure gold, and I proceeded to make it through Story Mode on Hard difficulty on my first attempt with Hygog.

I got upset after I did that though, because I had finally unlocked everything. It's time to move on to a different game, but I'll miss my time with Gundam Battle Assault, as it really was quite good.

Remember to give it a bit while you learn the system, and the bosses will require you to change your tactics significantly when you fight them, but it really is something worth checking out. I'm going to start recommending it to folks interested in PS1 games.

I am a huge Gundam nut and used to play the Battle Assault games all the time.

They are a real anachronism these days - they were released to the US in order to help boost sales of Gundam Wing VHS tapes. The 'Gundam Battle Master' game was primarily focused on Zeta and ZZ Gundam suits with a smattering of popular 0079 Gundam elements. A sure fire thing for the Japanese markets who had grown up with Gundam but for the American market it wasn't such a winner.

So the localization team actually replaced the Zeta Gundam suit with the Wing and hacked the story to make it some wacky, nonsensical tale of Heero from Gundam Wing interacting with all the Universal Century characters and mobile suits. They renamed it 'Battle Assault' and sent it to retail.

Battle Assault 2 continued the marketing focused approach - it was just a simple copy and paste job on the original Battle Assault: Characters with no marketing value for Gundam properties that were not available in North America were replaced with sloppy versions of characters and suits that could move DVD's and VHS's (G-Gundam, Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, 0079 Gundam, etc) and action figures on store shelves.

This hacked game was eventually released in Japan but you can imagine how well it was received compared to the 2 genuine 'Gundam Battle Master' games they had already received.

It was not until the Gameboy Advance game 'Battle Assault Gundam SEED' was released here that North America FINALLY got a true Gundam Battle Master game. Unfortunately, though that game was awesome, the sequel was not released here.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
