I got out of the Tokyo area a few days ago and in west Japan it's like nothing even happened here. Crazy what a few hundred extra km will do for you. A few days ago, I had to wait 50 min in line just to buy 12L of gas. Here I can fill a full tank w/o waiting in line. If this shit continues, Japan might as well move the capital back to Kyoto.
Why is there no looting in Japan after the earthquake?

The Japanese equivalent of looting in this time of crisis is that they just buy up as much as they can because they don't know when they're gonna be able to buy stuff again.

why did you leave out the Rodney King verdict?gtmtnbiker wrote:
The LA riots were more racial based. The community was predominantly poor and were jealous of the Korean shop owners and hated the authority and when it reached the boiling point, the riots/looting happened.

Because why mention the snowflake that started the avalanche that was already in the making.OldSchool_Boy wrote:why did you leave out the Rodney King verdict?gtmtnbiker wrote:

Well, I guess it was just a matter of time. The looting in Miyagi Prefecture has begun.

Jeez... what a shame. All we can do is hope things return to normal as quickly as possible.

The Rodney King verdict was the spark that started the whole thing. I think there were problems with the police, local government, etc for awhile before the R.K. verdict happened.OldSchool_Boy wrote:why did you leave out the Rodney King verdict?gtmtnbiker wrote:
