Let's Name the Top 100 Video Game Unofficial Soundtracks!

Post by dsheinem »

I'll be honest that I have only passing interest in the other "Let's Name" threads, but as someone who has recently been trying to better appreciate video game soundtracks (from all eras and of all styles) on their own merits, I think this thread would be useful.

I want to limit the list in this thread to soundtracks that have never had any kind of official release (as opposed to official releases). That means no stuff like the Castlevania Soundtrack Collection Box Set, which would fit better in this thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 44&t=29287. Spin-off soundtracks are also ok (such as a fan made metal version of an 8-bit score).

PLEASE USE GOOGLE-FU TO MAKE SURE NO OST EXISTS (digital, CD, cassette, vinyl, etc.) BEFORE POSTING.

Post 1 unofficial release per post (box sets are ok), wait for at least two other people to post before posting a new title. No links to illegal downloads please.

2. God Hand (PS2)

(There's the "God Tracks" promo release, but it doesn't include the entire soundtrack. As far as I know, the entire soundtrack was never commercially released.)

3. Braid

The game uses licensed music, so while there is an "official" release, it's just online and you have to pay a subscription to a website to listen to it. There are no box sets or actual commercially released discs.

5. Bioshock Soundtrack Complete

There is an OST for Bioshock, but it does NOT include many of the excellent period pieces heard in the game. This fan-made compilation reincorporates many of these missing songs and reinforces the importance of the soundtrack to the experience of traveling through Rapture.

6. Tetrisphere

I feel like this Nintendo 64 Tetris game never got enough respect. It was a really good take on 3D Tetris and the soundtrack was absolutely fantastic. As far as I know, the soundtrack never saw an official release, but it is easy to find as a download online. Neil Voss was the man behind the music. He has said his influences for Tetrisphere's soundtrack were The Prodigy and Aphex Twin, and that's pretty clear from listening to it.

Here's a link to download

Castle Crashers

One of my fave game sound tracks ever, but I don't believe there is any kind of official release. You can find all the songs on newgrounds though, from their original artists.
