Just a quick video I put together about playing original imports via FMCB.

when I launch sm.elf I just get a black screen...?

I would try copying it to your MC, launching via FMCB menu.
Try it with a game in the drive.

I will look into it when I get home, maybe I left something out of the .rar

Try putting the .elf in the BOOT folder of your Memory Card.

I completely deleted it off my MC (after backing up my MC), I transferred it across via usb, tried to launch it and got a black screen, placed it in BOOT (not root) folder and it launched first shot no dramas.

The file I uploaded it what it is called on my MC. Try the files I PM'ed you.
