That would be up to my manager or district manager to decide. The problem there is people's first instinct would naturally be to assume something like that would be to resell the cases en-masse. Corporations (like any business) don't want to give someone else a way to make money off them. Especially with their own "garbage" as they see it.noiseredux wrote:but if you said to them "can I have all the PS2 cases we throw out?" Would they let you have them?

so they would quite literally prefer that NOBODY have them rather than SOMEBODY have them.

Missing out on what is still the best price for used PS2, Gamecube and GBA games. Worth a look to find at least some complete games, a reason to hit ALL the Gamestops.Inazuma wrote:Gamestop, confirmed for assholes. Best price? No way. Many pawn shops, thrift stores, and even ebay often have better prices. In fact, I generally consider gamestop to be a bit on the pricey side.CRTGAMER wrote:Missing out on what is still the best price for used PS2, Gamecube and GBA games. Here's something interesting I just learned. I was talking with a GS employee, and he said that Gamestop is in the process of closing down all of it's mall locations. Opinions?

Good. I go to 4 different gamestops. Two mall locations and two regular stores. The two mall locations have meaner employees, worse selection of games, worse prices, and terrible organization. The two regular store locations are very nice. Never have had a problem with them. So I think it will be good. Maybe some other game store can open up in it's place, if there's any left.lisalover1 wrote:Here's something interesting I just learned. Re: Gamestop is evil
Yep, its true. Gamestop is in the process of closing down at least 20% of their US stores. Several reasons for this:lisalover1 wrote:Here's something interesting I just learned. 1. A lot of the gamestops are putting new fixtures, TV kiosk, and more to look more the same and its cheaper to change less stores.
2. Gamestop feels too many stores are to close to each other.
3. Malls are dying, every year less and less people are shopping at malls. Some malls are trying to progress and lower their rent, but too many stick with the old school way of thinking.
4. While every year Gamestop keeps having record sales, they are making less pure profit then previous years. Put it this way, if you have a Million dollar store, then you take away cost of product, Employee salary, repairs, utilities, shrink, rent, and a lot more, most Gamestops are lucky to break $100,000 a year in pure profit. Then remember Home Office has employees too, how many stores do you think are needed to pay the CEO, CFO, COO or whatever they are calling him these days.
EDIT: I must also mention that a good portion of the stores closing are in the same mall or shopping center, which makes prefect business sense. Why Gamestops love to be near Wal-marts or in Wal-mart shopping centers I will never know.
