Well, I'd try it out first. I like RPGs and I don't mind difficult games but I really hated the control scheme and got rid of it quickly.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater – PS1

I beat this game back when it first came out and enjoyed it for being an over-the-top skateboarding game. I suddenly had an urge to play it again and was able to go through career mode with Elissa Steamer acquiring all 26 tapes and 3 gold medals with relative ease. Aside from the controls feeling a little clunky at times, I was surprised how well the game still held up for me. It reminded me that I still need to give some of the sequels a chance.

I recently spent an extended amount of time replaying 1 and 2 for an article I was working on. One is still surprisingly good, but the jump from the first to the second is amazing. Something as simple as Manuals being utilized to string together combos just made a great game near-perfect.

3 and 4 are also very good. Though I'd say 2 or 3 is my personal favorite.

Cool! I'm really looking forward to trying 2 when I get some more free time. I think my brother might have a couple of the GBC games so I'll probably give those a chance as well, but I'm not sure what to expect.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The GBC games are HORRIBLE. Just terrible. Trust me. Stay far away. They will taint your view of the series.

Now, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for GBA is amazing. It's built on the same engine that the GBA port of Jet Grind Radio was. It's isometric, very fluid and awesome. Give that a shot if you can.

But whatever you do... don't play the GBC games.

Haha, yea stay away from the GBC version. However, I have spent many hours/days on the GBA versions; they are excellent.

Now I have to try the GBC versions just to see how bad they are. I'll see about the GBA version too, but Noise has me pretty interested in that GBA port of Jet Grind Radio that I was unaware of until now.

Jet Grind Radio is fantastic on the GBA as well! I think it's a must own for any Jet Set fan.

This Tony Hawk discussion is hilarious. I played pro skater on gbc for like ten minutes and it was terrible. I've yet to play pro skater on console, but I really enjoyed 2 and 3.
