Totally agree!!Ack wrote:Yeah, I don't mind waiting. Japan's recovery is more important that our playing video games. To the companies developing and producing these titles, take all the time you need. I'd rather you be safe.AppleQueso wrote:Before anyone tries to say it, I'm sure that he's worried about Japan's citizens more than these game releases. We're a gaming forum after all, though, so this sort of thing is relevant discussion.

Re: Earthquake Disaster affecting video game releases in Japan
the thought that i had (probably selfishly) was i wonder how this will affect the availability of retro titles from japan. new games can always be made but i wonder just how many old games were destroyed in the quake/tsunami.
obviously this is NOT a huge issue and not the reason that i'm upset by the events in japan, but it did make me curious for a second. there are much greater tragedies in japan than a few lost pieces of plastic, so please don't think i'm totally insensitive.

Re: Earthquake Disaster affecting video game releases in Japan
Seriously folks, I think the earthquake disaster and the recovery is ALOT more important than a delay (which is to be expected with something as horrific as this) in Japanese video game releases. I'm sure everyone agrees though and besides I would hope to think we have MORE than enough games to keep us busy whever we may be. I just got my Modded Xbox so I know I have plenty to do but more importantly I wish for Japan to recover quickly from this event and rebuild stronger than ever. Such a beautiful country and culture, perseverance is key for this difficult time and they will.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

As a fellow collector of retro Japanese games, I thought of this too. Considering how much destruction the tsunami caused, I think it's safe to say that a lot of retro games were destroyed.aaron wrote:the thought that i had (probably selfishly) was i wonder how this will affect the availability of retro titles from japan. new games can always be made but i wonder just how many old games were destroyed in the quake/tsunami.

Re: Earthquake Disaster affecting video game releases in Japan
A game depicting Japan being destroyed by an earthquake is completely unrelated to Japan being devastated by an earthquake? Huh.Onikage wrote:I disagree.. The events of the game are completely unrelated to what is happening in right now. It's stupid to cancel a game over something like this.AmishSamurai wrote:I kind of expected Disaster Report 4 to be canceled. It would be in very poor taste to release it after all of this.

the pic of the retro shop that hashiriya1 posted really got me thinking about this.Inazuma wrote:As a fellow collector of retro Japanese games, I thought of this too. I don't think it will be too bad, to be honest. Yeah, everything in the tsunami area is toast... but in the overall picture, that is a small percentage.Inazuma wrote:As a fellow collector of retro Japanese games, I thought of this too. I don't think it will substantially affect it in the long term, to be honest.

Re: Earthquake Disaster affecting video game releases in Japan
I think you are right. I am listening to CheapyD's CAGcast from Tokyo this morning and he reports Tokyo is almost unaffected by the earthquake and tsunami. Tokyo is probably where the majority of retro games stores are such as those in the Akihabara area. The radiation is the concern right now for Tokyo....Breetai wrote: I don't think it will substantially affect it in the long term, to be honest.
