BIG Frown: Realized that despite my grades are well, well above the average requirements, I cannot get into the University of British Columbia, due to not having taken 2 years of Physics and Chemistry.

Let me guess... You wouldn't even need Physics or Chemistry for what you want to do.
Electrical Engineering, so I am pretty sure I will be needing Physics. Chemisty, less so. The annoying part is that I already have a year in both of these subjects, so I juuusst barely didn't get in. It doesn't matter that I have 18 college credits, a 3.7 GPA, and an 1860 SAT score, no, those 2 high school credits must be pretty damn important to them.

Well, it looks like I will be going to Michigan Tech after all. University of Toronto and McGill both laughed out loud when I applied, and University of Michigan just doesn't care either way. I dread the idea of staying in this state for another 4 years.

Not to be a dillweed, but are college tutitions in Canada much higher than in the states? Not questioning your choice in colleges, but speaking from experience, you can always transfer
A bud of mine in highschool got into MY college of choice with a full 1.0 GPA lower than mine, and not to mention I took tons of APs and did tons of community service, I felt robbed when I was rejected and he was accepted. A year down the road, I transfered to my college of choice from my no-name community college, got into EE in half a year, and graduated a year early by taking summer courses.
Sure, it sucks that you got denied for the time being, but something better is sure to come :)
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

ticked - my spaced out coworker who doesnt do a damn thing most days got a promotion and is taking next week off. It is a job I applied for and have more experience for, but he got it anyway.

smiled - new job has most of the pieces falling in place and then I can kiss this hole goodbye.

Good point. I guess I can handle 1 year in the middle of nowhere if it would let me get into UBC.
