Is my Sega Saturn dead?

Post by creamsodaboy »

If so can it be revived? After trying to install my first mod chip ever it seems I have killed my Saturn(which I just bought a week ago), here's some picture of the problem.

I hope it can be fixed. I'm so down about this, twas my birthday present... and I don't have the 100+dollars needed to buy another on ebay.

Yeah it looks like you need to desolder that blob thats sitting on the pins of that chip there. Get yourself a solder sucker and try and get rid of it. The solder on the power pins wont do any harm though.

Did you try the AB method on the modchip before attempting to solder a wire to the TINY pins on the saturns chip?

Yeah that's what I thought, thank you so much!

Yes, I tried A to B before trying to stick it to the pin(s). I'm sending the modchip back to have it replaced. Once again thanks for confirming that it is the solder on the pin(s) that is making my system work incorrectly. Now I hope when I get the new chip back that I won't have as hard of a time installing it...

I did this to my Genesis. I took it to some appliance place and some dude got it off with copper. You're not alone!
