Been a while since I actually beat something. Elephant Quest is a neat little browser game on Armor Games that seems to be a 2D action shooter RPG. And the story is really touching. It deserves a playthrough; it's one to two hours of awesome.

Thoughts on the Game(s)

Kirby Super Star Ultra, while I never have played the original I am a fan of Adventure on the NES, this game is massive. There is so much to do and once you think you have finished everything you unlock some more. I loved the Meta Knight levels, though damn they were long.

3/3 Mega Man II (GB)
3/5 Super Street Fighter II: HD Remix (PS3)
3/6 Mega Man III (GB)
3/11 Mega Man IV (GB)

Mega Man IV (GB) is amazing. I spent the entire game marveling at how GOOD this game is. Megaman IV is one of the rarer Megaman (GB) games, surpassed only by Megaman V. Not a lot of people have played it. That's a shame because this game is actually better than any of the entries on the NES. This game has a style of presentation that makes the NES titles seem immature and sloppy by comparison.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Haven't beaten any games lately... mainly because I started to play wow, got to 85, then I quit woohoo.

1. Deja Vu
2. Lunar Legend
3. Skies of Arcadia Legends
4. Streets of rage 2
5. No more heroes 2
6. Rogue Galaxy
7. Pokemon White(new)

Beat the elite four both times. I really liked this Pokemon generation, mainly because of Krookodile, and all the Pokemon before the elite four were new.

Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes (DS)

Wonderful puzzle RPG along the lines of Puzzle Quest. Excellent combat mechanics. Too bad the story was kind of bleh.

Super Meat Boy (Xbox 360)

Easily the best 2D platformer I've played in years. I highly doubt I'll ever have the patience to complete all the dark world levels, though...

Yeah, I agree. Flake, why do you think the presentation is better than the NES titles? I've never played the Mega Man IV GBA, though I have beaten Mega Man III GBA. Do you feel this is a trait unique to this particular game, or to the GB series of Mega Man games in general?

Not knocking you Flake, I'm actually really interested now.

Donkey Kong Jr. e-Reader
Riviera: The Promised Land GBA
Super Mario Bros. 2 Wii
King of Fighters R2 NGPC
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn DS
Metal Slug 2nd Mission NGPC
Pocket Tennis Colour NGPC
Metroid GC
Super Mario Bros. 3 Wii
Probotector 2 Game Boy
A Boy and his Blob Wii
Total: 11

Another small update. Unfortunately I'm reaching the part of my final year of my degree where the time I have to play games is pretty small, so things aren't getting beaten very fast. I can't wait until it's over with.

A Boy and his Blob is a fantastic Wii game everyone should play. The puzzles are fun without being too challenging or too easy, the graphics are absolutely lovely and the music is pretty good too. Definetely worth the money it goes for (which now, is not a whole lot).

Next up: To be honest, I'm not sure. Depends how much time I need for my uni work. Possibilities are: Pokemon White, Sonic Adventure, Kirby's Dreamland 3 and Pilotwings Resort (Woo 3DS!).

It comes down to polish. The Megaman games on the NES occupy a lavish pantheon of glory in my personal list of best games ever. But at the same time, even the later games such as Mega Man 5 and 6 felt primitive, as though not much had really been added since Mega Man 2 other than a few control gimmicks.

Worse yet, after Mega Man 3 (NES) the level design really takes a hit. Very little effort was made to make parts of levels / specific enemies easier or faster if you had the right boss weapons.

The later gameboy Megaman games have everything their NES counterparts have (minus color and the larger resolution, of course) but they also have story segments built into the game, cutscenes animated using new artwork specifically made for that section. The use of the '4 bosses, then 4 MORE bosses' level progression allows for an incremental progression of difficulty as the game designers could now be certain that you would have certain weapons or items by the time you got to a specific stage. It also made it feasible to have an intermission level ala Megaman 7 that broke up the monotony of just charging down robot master after robot master.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
