Like most of us I'm sure, I've amassed a large amount of retro sports games. I know these are next to worthless and have little to no resale value. I am never going to play them. I'm curious if you all think it's worth keeping them, or if I should just sell them for cheap to clean up my collection. Is there any point in keeping them?

Put them on Craigslist and ask for $10 a piece with no pictures.

Throw them away. They're a waste of space pretty much and no one is going to buy them for more than a dollar.

-Coasters
-Light reflectors to torture cats
-indoor frisbees
-an ersatz building material
-a prophylactic
-a drawing tool for perfect circles / straight lines
-packing material
-recreating your favorite James Bond death traps
-Put them in a CD player, press play, and see what it does to dogs in your area.
-With duct tape, create a sort of armor to wear and patrol your town for crime
-Stick discs to your head and cosplay as Metal Man or Doctor Mario
Just a few ideas.

I disagree. People collect for many reasons.brunoafh wrote:Throw them away. They're a waste of space pretty much and no one is going to buy them for more than a dollar.
Personally I buy basketball games that have Celtics players on the covers for instance. Others collect launch/end games, like dsheneim who may still be after Madden 08 for GCN. Other people collect rarer games, so NCAA 2K3 for GCN is quite sought after. sevin collects like any NBA game actually. Don't be so hasty in assuming that just because they're sports games they're throwaways.
At the least I'd throw them in a lot and charge SOMETHING for them. Who knows.

Re: What to do with retro sports games?
CD cases can always be used a replacements for cracked to hell titles, as well! In fact, I jump at 2-3 dollars a piece for Madden and other sports titles in the Saturn, Sega CD, or PlayStation long-boxes if the cases have both door hinges on them.. Also, there are quite a few sports titles on the Saturn that are actually worth a good chunk of change, if you do the research, so any Saturn sports game is a good gamble! (see: Daytona USA - Netlink edition.)
And also, cartridge backs could be salvaged as replacements for titles with gunked and cruddied up backs.
