Been exploring Mission 4 for about an hour. Not sure where to go though.

yeah -- that's the jump that took me so long. Honestly, I must have tried 10 times to make that one. But yes, it is possible. I just did it! Haha. It seems too damn far, but that's it. And once in you're pretty much done with the level man, so just stay strong and keep trying!!

So I tried again tonight and got it on the second try. During the 4th mission I discovered that you can run (since you needed too to make it through the one door) and blasted my way through it. Ill play mission 5 tomorrow.

How far did you get? What do you need help with?
I got stuck trying to get back outside after unlocking everything on the giant pillar.

I received the game tonight and I was really excited to start playing it. I've made my way up to the fourth level and just finished the sewers. I'm pretty impressed with the game thus far. The levels are insanely huge and there is so much to explore. I was worried that I might be bothered by the early Playstation 3D/2D combination, but honestly I've been having a blast. The sewer has some really brilliant level design and like noise said I thought the control panel that opened multiple doors was really clever.

Anyways, I actually tried playing it on epsxe but it seems to only work using P.E.Op.S OpenGL Software plugin, since it has a dedicated fix for Dark Forces. No other plugin will run the game properly without that fix. It looks really nice with some HQ3X stretching and dithering, but honestly I was playing around with it on my laptop and it just doesn't have the CPU power to handle that kind of enhancements. I'm also too lazy to hook up my HTPC right now to get the performance needed for it. So... I just popped it in on the PS3, turned on smoothing, and left the screen as normal. :)

There is a running jump. I found that out the hard way since I also had a problem with that part and thought the jump was too long. Anyways, if you are playing the Playstation version, then you press R1 + Triangle to do a running jump. FYI, R1 is to sprint in the game.

I don't know. I got in. Explored a lot. Unlocked a bunch of stuff. But never found what I was looking for or could figure out where to go next. Very confusing level. More maze-like than the sewer maze in 3.

I'm finding the no-save thing a drag. Last night I made like an hour and a half worth of progress through level 4, got stumped, and had other things I needed to do. So I lost the progress. That sucks.

Yea, I started up level four last night and I probably spent a good hour just going through it. I didn't even manage to accomplish the first objective and of course (just my luck) I stumbled into a glitch which didn't allow me to move at all and the screen was half black. :(

I agree that the lack of a save anywhere/checkpoint system is a little annoying since I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that I can stop at any point or at least somewhere reasonably close.

Late to the party starting this game. Too much PS2 gaming and Gamestop runs. I started playing around with the PSX version, a pre Dual Shock game. There are three controllers that allow using either of the Analog sticks as the direction pad. Yes, both right and left sticks work in place of my dumb thumb movement.

1. Sony Dual Analog (Not Shock)

2. Interact Barracuda 1st Edition

3. Interact Barracuda 2nd Edition

Number two is my favorite, a monster controller!

If anyone is looking for these controllers in the wild, two quick things to spot is grey combined with concave plastic analog sticks.

I already cheated (not the game) with the Game Hunter cart. Viewed the cut scene STR video clips. The videos brings back memories of Tie Fighter on the PC.

Finished levels 11-13. Kinda difficult when I can only really attack the dark troopers with the repeater and thermal detonators.

Yeah, not trying to sound ungrateful but I wish Darkxl was in a more advanced stage, with support for all weapons. I got pretty far in the last level until I reached a puzzle that, from what I've seen on youtube of the original game, seems kinda broken. Let me know if you can pass that (you got to hit switches to rearrange a wall, sounds weird but you'll know it once you see it).

The FAQ for Dark XL mentioned something still being broken and having to cheat with some door in the last level. Once I've gotten to that point I'll probably just cheat for that little bit. I might give myself some more repeater ammo if needed too since I won't feel bad about not having been able to use the other weapons the whole way.
