Why no Demitri? He's probably the most balanced out of all male Darkstalker characters, (next to Talbain.)
A) He's basically Darkstalkers' Ryu, as pako2 said. We need more unique movesets.
B) With Midnight Bliss, he would cause a lot of extra work to be put into each character to make alternate models, and, very likely, RAM issues because you'll now have to have extra models loaded for each of the active characters in a match. Without Midnight Bliss - what's the point? The ability to turn dudes into chicks and chicks into hotter chicks is more than half of his charm.

These are the main reasons I don't see him joining the cast. Plus, unless they can make him as imposing as he looked in SVC:C, I just don't think it would be worth the effort. Jedah, Donovan, Talbain and just about every other Darkstalker has a moveset that is a lot more creative and could likely be a great asset to a team. Any place Demitri would be put can just as easily be filled by Ryu, Akuma or Morrigan.

As for why Capcom doesn't let fans directly influence who goes into the game - I think the amount of work that goes into making a character for a fighting game is a lot different from the amount of work that goes into making a pinball board. Plus, and this is an important thing - fans are ignorant to the process. Currently, the two most requested characters are Venom and Strider. They don't realize that Venom has a moveset that would be extraordinarily hard to do in a 3D environment, and that Strider is not fully owned by Capcom. (Or perhaps they do realize and they just don't care, I dunno.)

As for the costume pack - I'm thinking about it. I like the Sparda costume and SF1 Ryu outfit, but I'm also thinking I might wait for a price reduction or something. I dunno yet.

I just got back from playing this with some friends. We decided to do some interesting stuff with it, after we got bored with Random Select.

I suggested Blind Matches, where we played with all the meters obscured from view. Was pretty fun and interesting. Then we did 3-on-3 non-tag, where we just played it like a KOF game or something. Was very fun and actually made the game play legitimately different.

Protip: Don't play Borderlands. I played it last night with my roommate, and now, all my MvC3 skills have been overwritten by the ability to shoot straight. Seriously, I was rocking this game pretty well, and yet tonight I lost just about every match I played.
