My First Saturn Import

Post by CAv »

So, on one of my regular tours of my local game places, I came across this Japanese RPG called Terra Phantastica. The art, manual, and included map were so beautiful that I had to pick it up for $10. It also had two little Japanese registration cards still in it. I can't play it yet because I don't have a japanese system or a region unlocking cart, but I'm glad to have it. Can anybody tell me something about this game?

If you have an SSF emulator you can put the game in your disc drive and run it through that. It's how I played my imports before I got my action replay cart. Have fun.

Huh, I've never heard of such a thing. I'm gonna look into that.

I just looked it up and the entire packaging does look pretty nice. Hope you get to play it somehow!

If you just want to try it out you can make a backup and region patch it, do the swap trick and see how it plays.

From the little I saw while I looked it up, it seems far too text heavy to enjoy if you don't have an understanding of the Japanese language.

It's a beautiful game, but it is really text-heavy. There are guides and translations on gamefaqs if you wanted to go that route.

Oh, and welcome to the fold. TP was one of my first imports and I'm well over 100 now

Ahh I remember my first import. It was Akumajou Dorakyura X (Demon Castle Dracula X A.K.A Castlevania SOTN), and man it's still a great game till this day. I like the saturn version the best because of the added areas and enemies.

Since then I have gotten: House of the Dead, BIO HAZARD (two copies), Panzer Dragoon 1 & 2, and some Rock Man games. All my other games are USA region and I have a ton of them.

Yeah I have the Metal Slug imports as well as KoF '96, we got some game in common ;)

I also just got a used Official Gun controller for the Saturn, it's not new but I think the price of $10 was worth it IMO. Should make playing HoTD much easier than the awkward D-Pad control.
