I have the Aladdin modchip: http://www.aladdin-chip.com/
The diagram (my model is SCPH-102, the newer motherboard which is the very first picture): http://www.aladdin-chip.com/download/Al ... iagram.jpg
When I first installed the modchip, the disc refused to spin even from the beginning. I firstly thought that I killed the console but I removed the chip and it was working again (with original games, of course). Now I made a second attempt on installing the chip with new wiring and it does actually spin the disc. But the games won't work. Original games boot up as "audio CD" and when trying to load a backup, I get the classic "Please Insert PlayStation Disc" screen.
I'm pretty sure about having soldered everything correctly and I can't find any solder bridges at all for the moment. Is it perhaps that I haven't embedded the chip enoughly? I'm using regular plastic from a plastic bag that I ripped off under and above the chip, but I think it should cover everything smoothly. Otherwise it wouldn't spin the disc at all from the beginning, would it? It seems that the chip is "active", but operates wrongly.
PS1 modchip won't work
Re: PS1 modchip won't work
post pictures of the install. make sure you are using 30 awg kynar wire
Edit: you connect only pin 1,6 and 8 from the chip to the board. you connect/bridge with a piece of wire point 5 to 5 on the board.

Re: PS1 modchip won't work
Glad to hear that.
I don't think the aladdin chip is stealth or multi-region. If you have problems playing import games download ImportPlayer.

Re: PS1 modchip won't work
No, it is correct that it can't play games from other regions. The chip can only boot other region games on the old PSX models (I think Japanese SCPH-1000 is an exception). I currently don't have access to an anti-mod game, so I can't check if it is stealth or not but it shouldn't be. I have never seen a 4 wire chip with stealth function before.jinn wrote:Glad to hear that.

This is not Aladdin and not a PSOne, but (from modchip.ca):
Most of the backups I play are pre-patched already and my boot disc has anti-mod built in it, so I'm fine anyway. You can only wire a 1001 in 4 wire mode, stealth does not work on a 1001 model, if you want to play protected games you need to patch them or use a plugin MODCLIP with your chip!
