Okay, then you are an exception to the rule. Nothing wrong with that.

Say, does anybody know of any adapters that let me use Gamecube controllers on the PS2? I know it has less buttons, but I would much rather use a GC controller than the plain ol' Dualshock.

The only problem with the GC controller i've ever had was that the D-pad seemed too small and unresponsive. That, and there was no left Z button, kinda looks weird just having one
I havn't played the O Xbox, but I find the GC controller is worlds ahead of the ps2 controller. I love the design of the 4 face buttons, the shoulder buttons are much more responsive, and it feels a lot sturdier overall. I never really liked the DC controller either, it just seemed awkward compared to the ps2 or gc ones. Just because of controller preferences, I find most multiplats better on the cube.

I have tried and tried to find one. No joy.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

It can't be that hard to reverse engineer a PS2 --> GCN adapter.

If you ever do, avoid the standard controller like the plague. It's like a DC controller if it ate a few too many muffins and became overweight.

And the Dreamcast controller was awkward to begin with.

I've never understood the hate from the Dreamcast controller. Sure, it looks like a pontoon boat and the analogue stick doesn't have the best grip but everything else is great. I think the D-Pad on it is terrific and I loved that you could use it for most games instead of the analogue stick (something the N64 should have done) and I genuinely like the triggers and buttons. That being said I can't imagine playing Ikaruga with it (the GC controller is awesome for that game).

I think that it just felt like a step backwards from the Saturn's 3D controller.

I've never used the Saturn 3D controller but can understand given the Saturn's awesome D-Pad and six face buttons. I guess I was just so impressed with the DC controller because I compared it to the N64's.
