Well, so far I don't see mention of the SNES Heaven and Earth Trilogy:

Sorry, that isn't even the best game in the Quest SRPG series. Both Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre (same designer, just using the Final Fantasy title to boost sales!) beat the heck out of FFT. It's still great, but the Ogre games are better.

Still doesn't touch Shining Force I, II, CD or Dragon Force.

I completely forgot Demon's Souls in my earlier post. I always think of it as a JRPG but if were going by gameplay style and not development origins to define JRPG here then Demon's Souls is my number 1.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Yeah, despite my love for FFT, it's just a Tactics Ogre ripoff Very good one though
