I will .... *dramatic pause* ... ALLOW IT!

(and there was much rejoicing)

This may seem like a strange choice, but I'd pick my favourite game of all time: Ultimate Soccer Manager 98/99 for the PC.
It's kind of like Theme Park or Sim City except that you control a football club - and not just the management of the squad itself, but the running of the whole club, from building the stadium to managing the finances.
The AI isn't brilliant, but it has that addictive 'one more turn' feeling that all great sim games have and with multiple leagues and hundreds of teams to choose from, the replay value is fantastic. It also has a hotseat multiplayer mode which is great fun if you have friends to play with.
Without doubt this is what I'd pick - and I bet no one's ever even heard of it!

This is a tough one. Probably Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. There seems to be so much you can do and re do with new characters.

It's also great if you have the construction set. Then you could play it forever.
Thanks everyone...

4 pages and no ones mentioned an RPG Maker title for PS/PS2. I've never played them, but they seem like they could take up many thousands of hours.

If I were stuck with some of these suggestions forever i'd go insane.

Assuming the game stays up and running, with other players online, I will have to pick the PC beat-em-up MMO, Dungeon Fighter Online.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
