I wonder who wouldn't download a car, that'd be so awesome.

It's like when I read a book to a child. The information from the book is copied into their brain, but the child and I did not steal the book, we only transferred the information. So when I hack into my bank's computer system and I copy some of their money into my my checking account, I'm not actually stealing, nooo, I'm just "transferring information". They still have the same information in their account too, I just copied a few numbers over to my account. That's all. It's not stealing in the slightest. /sarcasm.

Meh, I pirate, no, I STEAL, a bunch of things too. I download a lot of TV series, for example. Some movies. This self-righteous attitude on the forums is tiresome sometimes.

I do have some justifications even, but since I'm such a despicable thief, what can I say in my defense, right?

How terribly short sighted. Using that logic, the current generation of kids will not have anything available to download. Why would any company spend money making a piece of software if they had no realistic expectation of a return on that investment?

Pirate logic (or the lack thereof) never ceases to amaze me.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'm actually not completely against piracy. I think piracy has done more to maintain the history of videogames than the industry ever has. I just keep to pirating old games that I can't find though, or where my money only feeds into the secondary market. Mainly, I have a bunch of old roms and some abandonware. It's hard to feel like I'm stealing something that isn't even available in the retail market.

What I dislike is the piracy of newly released games. It hurts the developers/publishers and that's not good for the industry because there is less monetary incentive for them to do what they do and that makes for smaller budgets for the development of new titles.

I download, but I buy what I like, in support of those artists/game makers/actors/etc. I also don't think its right to go pay a few hundred dollars for a rare game when I can download it...especially when it is not hurting the original creators. Whos going to suffer if I download and emulate a game like Panzer Dragoon Saga? No one. If I buy it, some guy who had nothing to do with making or producing the game is making a few hundred dollars ,and I have a game that I'll play once or twice and put on a shelf. I don't see it as a problem to download roms for a defunct system with games that are not available for purchase.

Funny thing is, I do not emulate. Well I have them on my computer but I buy all cartridge based games.

Actually those of us playing Borderlands do this all the time. I'm surprised Scooter hasn't revoked my account yet with all the vehicles I've wrecked driving around below T-Bone Junction this past week. Oh, and that box down underground? Not solid. :P
