Exo Squad (an ETREMELY underrated Genesis game)

Post by Mykle »

For years I've searched and searched for people who know about this game and I haven't fond a SINGLE person! There are barely any gameplay clips on YouTube of this game. Someone really needs to help get this game known. I was based off of an old 90s TV series called Exo Squad

This game was pretty ahead of it's time in many different areas of the game, but I think the MAIN reason this game should be more well known, is because of it's music. I'm not lying when I say this, this game has the highest quality SEGA Genesis music I've ever heard and also the catchiest. I would post some of the music from this game, but no one has uploaded any music from this game... anywhere. I would rip it myself but I don't have the proper sound card to do so. If you ever download a rom of this game, I strongly encourage you to go to sound test mode and listen to all of the music. The music in this game is too good to continue to go to waste like it has been for YEARS. I feel sorry for the people who made the great music for this game. Because no one is recognizing their great work!

Fortunately, there are others that love video game music too.
Genesis/Megadrive Music Archive

Specifically, Exo Squad.

foobar2000 and winamp both support plugins that will play .vgz music. If you don't like either of those media players, I won't be much help.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give it a listen.

Thank you so much!

I suggest listening to Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4, Stage 5, Stage 6... aw heck with it, they're all awesome! I actually was listening to each one to see which ones I like the most but, it's hard to pick a favorite >_<

EDIT: Ok to narrow it down my personal favorites, they are Stage 18b, Stage 6, Stage 7, Stage 12b, Story Sequence and Training Mode. But I pretty much LOVE all of them

i grew up with this one... fond memories, but it's an unfortunately rotten title, hahaha... the controls are unresponsive nonsense and the flying levels are motion sickness-inducing... and i don't even get motion sick!

it does have badass music though, fun tunes all the way through!

I remember the title music being listed as the best FM track ever on a site I visited. Definitely one of the best genesis soundtracks ever.

lol I found 2 player mode pretty fun though. It may only be because I grew up playing it with my brother though

Wow, never heard of this one, but found a review on Sega-16:

The variety in gameplay and great music sound very intriguing. I'll have to track down this title. Thanks for highlighting it.
