Model HST 3220
Version, it's white japanese with circular buttons

I removed the mod chip and it still works but the boot screen isn't animated anymore it just loads up like a picture and then goes straight to the cd player.

I think I burnt out the motor.

Reading about doing the swap trick they warn that damage can be done this way. Which is basically what I did by stopping the motor with my hands.

I plugged it in with the lid off and I can't see any activity goin on with the motor.

mine is actually doing the same thing, going to the cd screen with the message "checking disc." i'll take out the chip and see what it do.

edit: took out the chip, plugged in the ribbon cable, put on the lid, put in a commercial disc and viola. fine. plugged the ribbon cable into the chip, then plugged the chip into the saturn, restart, same problem as before. i'll try to resolder the wire into the power terminal but is there a chance there is something internally wrong with the chip? i've been using an action replay to bypass regions on my japanese backups, would this have something to do with it?

edit 2: re soldered the power wire to both the chip and the terminal with no results either time. same problem.

The worst part is that I paid $170 for this system and haven't even played it a full day.

Am I better off buying another saturn and if so, does it have to be another HST 3220?
