Beyond Good and Evil HD - Perfect accept for NASTY subtitles

Post by artphotodude »

This is a game I have really been looking forward to and it is great, but am I alone in thinking that the new subtitles are WAY TO BIG??!? These really need to be optional.

You can't turn subtitles off??? Weird. How are the graphics? Is it just an upscale like the God of War Collection or is it actually a remake with new textures and stuff?

I think it is just upscaled with better resolution and textures. Is really pretty awesome looking accept for that stupid subtitle thing. Another thing too - the load-times are kinda long (about like comparing Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube vs. the PS2 version).

Well am glad to report that the subtitles issue is only in the trial - THANK GOD! So overall, it is a pretty excellent port of the game. None of the problems with sound getting out of sync that the originals on the PS2 and Xbox had.

Well as good as this game is, after playing for 5 hours I have run into a lot of glitches. The sound has some real problems - gets out of sync (like the old versions did), and in some cases the characters say the same line twice in a row ?!?! Also, when I got the Animal Detector, it shows that there are animals in areas that they are not - tried to see if there were more of the ones that you have to offer food to to get them to come out, but alas, these are simple glitches.

Also, the 60 FPS thing is not good in this game. Totally robs it of the cinematic feeling the PS2 version had. That is still the best version. Overall, if you don't have a PS2, it is good, but if you do - stick with that version.

I hit a pretty major glitch early in the game. It just randomly loaded me into the hover craft while I was in the garage, which I don't think you're supposed to have access to that early in the game. Then I dropped the boat from the hover craft into the water and it replayed the dialogue about the boat breaking down outside the garage even though I'd already played through that part, then the game started to load and the game froze. WTF!?

Wow, that just wreaks of unfinished game. The camera angles and controls seem a bit wonkier than I remember too
