Hey guys I am looking into getting a TurboGrafx-16 for my collection. I am a little confused about which system to get. I am looking for just base system and not the CD unit yet but I want to be able to have composite or S-video connections. But I am seeing Turbo Boosters and all kinds of crazy add ons, I was hoping one of you experts can help me out and tell me what to look for.
Thanks!

TurboGrafx 16 Help
Like an Idiot I forgot to check the guide section on the site. That had all the info I really need.
Looks like I need a Turbo Tap and a Turbo Booster at the least. I could still use some advice as to what to look for when buying one though.

Well, you can get the turbo booster or the turbo booster plus. They both have the composite outputs and the plus has memory in it, too.

I have one and don't even bother playing it... it sits in my closet in a box. I only have about 5 games for it and I don't have a turbo tap for multi-player. It's a good system, but it just didn't catch on here and everything is so expensive for it.

If you are handy with a soldering iron or willing to pay someone a little to do some work for you, you might be better off getting a Japanese PC-Engine and simply putting in a region switch (and grounding the region identification pin). The PC Engine, with the right cable, will do composite video without an adapter, and the Turbo Duo and PC Engine use the same joystick port, while the Turbo Grafx (and only the Turbo) uses a different, larger adapter.
The other reason is that buying a TG-16 with a Turbo Booster or Turbo Booster Plus AND with a tap and a couple pads may end up costing almost as much as a system that just has the darned CD unit with it. The boosters can be hard to find, see, and the larger control pad connector means there are fewer pads and taps to go around.
Just my $5 (I mean, come on, that's a lot more than $.02 up there!)
