dsheinem wrote:The Social Network (2010) - In what is probably Fincher's best film since Fight Club, a strong cast, a string of well executed shots, a well paced narrative, and a pitch perfect soundtrack make this film a strong contender for film of the year. Not only is the story itself infinitely more interesting than I thought it could possibly have been, but the film accomplishes the task of making everything seem like it is occurring in a real, believable setting with real, believable people playing the lead roles. It gives you that "fly on the wall" sense that some of the best documentaries can, even if this immediacy falls apart in the last act of the film. Eisenberg is excellent as an entirely convincing Zuckerberg, as is the rest of the cast (even Timberlake) in their own roles. The film manages the feat of being repellent and inspiring at the same time, which is remarkable.
Grade: 4/5
I just watched this over the weekend too. I thought it was great.

Kicking And Screaming:

I hate Will Ferrell movies. No exceptions here. Though I did crack a smile at the Tigers emerging from the meat truck.

Watched two Jackie Chan movies with my wife the other night:

Spy Next Door: awesomely bad. The dialogue is awful, there are scenes where Jackie Chan's character is supposed to cringe at jokes but I was certain it was just him cringing at the script. I sure hope to God that our nation's spy teams are better than the trio of Jackie Chan, Billy Ray Cyrus, and George Lopez.

Karate Kid (2010): When I bought my PSP this movie was included on UMD. I rolled my eyes and kept it in the PSP box in storage. We watched this movie and I was surprised how much I liked it. I have never seen the original Karate Kid but my wife liked this one more than the original. Jackie Chan was great as the kung fu master. There were some awkward scenes though given the age of the actors but I was surprised how well Will Smith's son did despite my misgivings before seeing the movie.

John Woo's The Killer, absolutely amazing stuff. Action with some great emotion, man it was good. I watched Hard Boiled earlier this week as well which was great too, though I think The Killer was a step up from it. Gonna check out Bullet In The Head here soon!

Great movies. Just be prepared that BITH isn't the happiest movie. You may want to prepare a funny chaser of some kind for after.

Damn, and I kind of thought The Killer's ending was a kick to the nuts. Haha. Loved it though, not something you see all the time... I guess BITH's is even crazier.
